Attention sophomores!  There will be a class meeting on Thursday, September 3rd, in the Theatre during lunch!  We will be raffling off pizza at the end of the meeting.  You won't want to miss it!  Run August 31-September 1

 

FCA (or Fellowship of Christian Athletes) has our first meeting of the year in room 111 during lunch on Tuesday, Sept 1st.  Everyone is welcome to attend! run on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday

 

Hola, amigos!  Hispanic Club invites all the students to its first meeting.  Hispanic Club is one of the most popular clubs of our school.  We will meet on Thursdays in Room 232, and you can always bring your lunch with you!  You will learn what activities the club did last year and we will plan for this year.  Cinco de Mayo, Valentine's Day, Halloween for local kids, clean-ups, charity for Christmas, a variety of fundraising events plus TRIPS to the Six Flags.... Would you like to participate?  Come and bring your friends to Room 232 on Thursday September 3, 2015.  We are so excited to see you there!

 

The boys and girls soccer team will be playing North Tahoe High School Friday. Girls will play at 4:00pm and the Boys will be playing at 6:00.  Run 8/28

 

 

Boys soccer team plays McQueen on Wednesday.  JV at 5:00 pm and Varsity at 7:00 pm here at Damonte. Come out and support the soccer team.  Run through 9/2

Speech and Debate is looking for “Speakers”- Speech and Debate meet every Thursday after school from 2:40 – 4:00 pm in the Career Center. DRHS will be hosting the first tournament of the debating season this September 18^th & 19^th it is a wonderful opportunity to see what all the buzz is about. Please see Mrs. Aikin or Mrs. Amini if you have any questions.

 

The DRHS Alumni Association is hosting their first fundraiser this August 30^th at Sweet Frog premium frozen yogurt @6637 S Virginia St # A, Reno over by DSW and David’s Bridal. Just make sure to mention Damonte or show your ID. The Career Center also flyers that you pick up. Our Alumni association raises money to support senior scholarships.

Seuss-Coming is here!  During the halftime show at the homecoming game on Friday September 18^th, there will be a float competition.  All sports teams and clubs are open to submitting a float.  There will be a flyer with more information in room 101.  We look forward to seeing what your club/sports team creates!  Please run announcement Wednesday August 26th through Friday August 28th.

We ask that you don’t use the recycling bins to dispose of plastic bags, wrappers, Styrofoam, food, or things with food on them. Also be aware of the fact that there should be a recycling box in every teacher’s room for their and your convenience, that you may use as well.  Thank you!  The Environmental Club meets every Wednesday at lunch in room 206.

 

Christian club will be meeting in the rifle range (room 131) on Wednesdays 11:05-11:40.  Bring your lunch.  Everyone is welcome!

Mustangs!  Have you ever watched an assembly and thought to yourself, "Wow, I wish I could be an MC!"  If so, StuCo is looking for YOU!  Students who aren't afraid of the spotlight and are willing to show off their amazing speaking abilities are encouraged to audition as an MC for the upcoming Homecoming Assembly.  Auditions will be held August 24th during lunch in Mr. Pence's room 121.  Sign up sheets will be posted outside room 121 and room 101.  We can't wait to see you there! 

 

Would you like to help other students in math and earn some money for doing this?  Students who are interested in being a paid peer tutor outside of school hours should see Mrs. Ault in room 122 for more information.  Run through 8/24

ACT test deadline Friday August 21^st for the September 12^th test date.

Did you know . . .

• The ACT is the only college entrance exam with a September test date—the earliest testing opportunity for the school year.
• A student's ACT score can be used for applying to ANY US college or university, including Ivy League institutions and other highly selective schools.
• Not all colleges and universities require a writing test for admission—the ACT writing test is optional, saving students time and money.
• The ACT test score is based on the number of correct answers, with no points deducted for guessing.
