PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

 

Today is A “B” DAY

 

We've had terrific audiences for the first two nights of Alice in Wonderland!  Didn't make it to the show yet?  Well, you have two more opportunities to see the show!  Today the show is running after school at 3:00, and again tomorrow morning, at 10:00.  Tickets are available at the door or in advance from Mrs. Kenyon in the office today!  Don't miss out on this creative, fun show!

 

Seniors! Haven't bought your senior shirt yet?  Your last chance to buy one is Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th at lunch.  They are $10 and will be sold in the counselor’s hallway.

 

Mustangs! Lend a helping hand and donate blood. When you give blood, you can help save the lives of up to three local hospital patients.  United Blood services is here today.  You must be at least 16 years old, 110 pounds, have your parent’s written permission, and be in relatively good health to donate.  Be sure that you ate a hearty breakfast, and eat a healthy lunch today.  See you in the small gym.  (Run October 9)

 

Literary Club!  We will not be meeting this Friday.  We will resume next week on October 16th.  Please be on time and if you would like to join the club, please come to room 214 on Friday, October 16. 

 

Attention students: You are wanted!!  For what, you ask?  DANCING WITH THE STAFF!!!  That’s right, Dancing With the Staff!  This event is a big fundraiser for your dance team and we need you to participate.  We are looking for students to partner up with a teacher or staff member to become this year’s dance champion.  If you are interested in signing up, please tell any dance team member or Coach Roybal, or sign up with Mrs. Kenyon in the front office.  We are looking for boys and girls to participate and the show is scheduled for January, 28.  You won’t want to miss out on this super fun event!!!  Thank You and see you on the dance floor.

 

Friday's football games will be "pink out".  Everyone is encouraged to wear pink.  The cheerleaders are selling pink shirts at lunch this week for $10 and the money is being donated to Moms on the Run.  Stop by and get your pink shirt!

 

BSU will be holding a bake sale in the Counselor’s Hallway Thursday and Friday, Oct 8-9.  Come one, come all and have a delicious dessert.

 

Hey Mustangs! There will be a ski team meeting on Thursday, October 15th, during lunch in room 133.  Come get information on what it takes to be a part of the ski team.

 

Seniors!  Don’t be left out of the Senior Portrait Section of the Yearbook.  The LAST DAY to take your senior portraits, is November 19th.  Don’t miss out!  Again, if you miss this date you will not be in the Yearbook… and that’s just sad.  You must take the portrait at Lifetouch, schedule your appointment today

TMCC’s Community Education Drivers’ Education class, which costs $99, fulfills the 30 hour classroom requirement, will be held at DRHS October 26-29.  Parents are responsible for the 50 hours behind-the-wheel requirement. These classes fill quickly. If the class you want is full, look for another that has space available.


 

Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.

When you give blood, you can help save the lives of up to three local hospital patients.  United Blood services is coming to Damonte TOMORROW from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.  Sign up to donate with a blood drive team member in the counselor’s hallway today at lunch.  You must be at least 16 years old, 110 pounds, have your parent’s written permission, and be in relatively good health to donate.  Be a lifesaver, sign up today!  Donors, please eat a hearty breakfast tomorrow morning! It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.  Testing starts at 12:00 until 4:00 pm. There will be a signup sheet in the Career Center to reserve your spot.

Sophomores and Juniors!  The PSAT test is Wednesday Oct 14th.  The preliminary SAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 for juniors.  See the bookkeeper today!  (Run it for three days a week until Oct 2nd.)

Have you ever thought about helping your fellow student with special needs?  How about just being their friend and listening to their funny jokes?   Well then have I got the club for you!!!   The Best Buddies Club!   The Best Buddies Organization in a National Organization that helps partner students with their fellow peers that have special needs.  There are fun events to attend, activities to do together and just plain getting to know your really fun fellow students!!   If this sounds like the club for you, please be sure to attend our first meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at lunch time in the Career Center.  Hope to see you there.
