TMCC Community Education Driver’s Education class, which costs $99, fulfills the 30-hour classroom requirement. Parents are responsible for the 50 hours behind-the-wheel component. The Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program is accepting applications and is comprised of four individual scholarships including:

DEA RED RIBBON is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program.  Red Ribbon was started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico.  As a tribute to Special Agent Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano and Congressman Duncan Hunter, created “Camarena Clubs” and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their opposition to drugs.

In 1988, the National Family Partnership (NFP) coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week, celebration with President and Mrs. Reagan serving as honorary Chairpersons.  Since then, the Red Ribbon Campaign has taken on national significance.

Today, decades after the first official national Red Ribbon celebration, wearing red ribbons continues to represent our pledge to live drug free and honors the sacrifice of all who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs.

We encourage you to celebrate Red Ribbon Week this year with the Drug Enforcement Administration.  (Run through Friday, 11/18)

There has been a rise in bicycle theft at Damonte lately.  If you have any information on the thefts, please contact the Corral, School Police and/or Secret Witness.  You may remain anonymous.

If you ride a bicycle to school, please remember to lock it up and write down the serial number in a safe place at home!  Cable and chain style bike locks can be quickly cut, so consider investing in a U-locks or “U” bolt locks along with a chain or cable lock which are harder for thefts to defeat.  Thank you!
