That’s right, all students with perfect attendance-third quarter-will be invited to a Nacho Party hosted by Mrs. Hausauer.  The party will also include drawings for raffle prizes.   

 

The Damonte Ranch third quarter Perfect Attendance Competition is set to kick off on Monday, January 23^rd.  See hallway posters for more details.  The intention of this first ever Perfect Attendance Competition is to reward students who attend school.  Students who attend school are more successful and more likely to graduate.

Scholarships for High School Girls…The P.E.O. sisterhood is an international philanthropic educational organization.  The Nevada Chapter will be awarding three (3) scholarships of $2,000 each.  Deadline is March 18^th.  Stop by the Career Center for more information and a hard copy of the scholarship application.

 

Soroptimist International of Reno Education Scholarship for $2,500 is now open.  Application Deadline is March 14^th.  Stop by the Career Center for a hard copy of the scholarship application.

 

Western Nevada Cattlewomen Scholarship for $1,000 is now open.  Application Deadline is March 15^th.  Stop by the Career Center for a hard copy of the scholarship application.

TODAY IS A “B” DAY

 

DAMONTE. Be Nice. In celebration of Kindness week, Student Council is holding lunch activities that you are all encouraged to participate in. Going on throughout the whole week, Students may play Kindness Bingo by completing random acts of kindness found on BINGO cards that you can pick up at lunch in the counselors hall. Prizes will be awarded to those that complete a Kindness Bingo!

 

On Thursday, January 19th there will be a practice round of BLINK, a fast pace card game competition leading up to our final BLINK tournament on Friday January 20th. Every student can take their chance at battling a Student Council member in this game to win a slice of free pizza. That's right, free pizza for whoever can beat a student council member in BLINK. Bring your A- game this Friday in the counselor’s hall to enjoy a piece of pizza.

 

Take advantage of these lunch activities all week and remember, BE KIND!

Auditions for the spring musical, The World Goes ‘Round, are tomorrow, January 19^th, after school in the theatre!  Make sure you pick up an audition form from outside the theatre door so you can get a parent to sign it before you audition!  Don’t miss out on this terrific musical review with songs like “All That Jazz,”  “New York, New York,” and “Cabaret!”  Come see more information about the show outside the theatre door, or ask Mr. Hearn about any questions you might have.  See you tomorrow!  (Run Wed, 1/18/17)

Attention Students!  The Hoof Notes Literary Magazine is seeking interested people to, once again, have a literary magazine for this school year.  If you’re interested, please come to our first meeting on January 17 in Ms. Servilican’s room 214 at lunch.  We want to see if any of you are interested and also to come up with a new magazine for this school year.  If you don’t know about the literary magazine, come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!  Hope to see you there!  (Run through 1/17/17)

 

Today is the last Audition Workshop where you can learn more about the spring musical, The World Goes ‘Round—come check it out!  It’s not likely that high schools get the opportunity to do shows like Chicago and Cabaret, but songs from those great shows are in our production, so come be a part of it!  Today in the theatre after school you’ll learn how to prepare your audition and what to expect—don’t miss it!  Auditions are on January 19^th after school in the theatre—don’t forget to pick up an audition form outside the theatre door ahead of time since it requires a parent signature.  (Tuesday, 1/17/17)

If you missed the Audition Workshop yesterday, you’re in luck—we have one more on Tuesday!  Come learn about our terrific spring musical, The World Goes ‘Round.  With songs from musicals like Chicago and Cabaret, audiences are bound to love every moment of this musical review—so come be a part of it!  The cast is large and flexible, so if you’ve been unsure about being in a musical, this is the perfect opportunity for first timers!  Come to the Audition Workshop Tuesday!  Auditions are Thursday, January 19^th!

Did you know that there are students who only graduate high school because of the positive impact of a Math Peer Tutor?  Do you like to help other people and make a difference in someone’s future?  Are you strong in math?  If so, the Math Department is looking for peer tutors for Algebra 1 and also for Alt Ed math classes, especially during period 5.   Please see Mrs. Ault in room 122 in order to sign up.
