It’s Coming!  The Perfect Attendance and No Missing Assignments Contest.

Have ZERO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES AND NO MISSING ASSIGNMENTS from Monday, September 10th – Friday, October 12th and you will win an Otter Pop Party with Principal Bell on Thursday, October 18th. 

Perfect Attendance = No absences other than excused for school business or illness.  A parent note or call must be received within a 3-day window of your absence. 

 

Homecoming Assembly on Friday

  • On Friday, report to your Seminar or IC 8th period class and leave your backpack there.  Backpacks and large bags are not allowed in the gym.
  • Walk to the gym with your class and sit in the designated bleachers with your class.
  • Be sure to walk back to your 8th period, with your class, after the assembly.

 

Mustangs-

Come to Friday’s homecoming, varsity football game and support your school!

Remember

  • Sit on the Damonte side.  Students are not allowed to go to the visitor side.
  • Once you enter the football stadium, no reentry is allowed.
  • Leave your backpacks at home.
  • You may not bring beverages inside the gate.
  • Entry is free with an activity sticker or students pay $4.

(An activity sticker will get you into all home football and basketball games.)

Homecoming Dance

This year’s Jurassic Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 8th from 7:00PM-10:00PM in the DRHS big gym.

  • Please enter through the DRHS back doors.

  • Make arrangements for your ride to pick you up promptly at 10:00PM.
  • Although dance dress code rules do allow spaghetti straps or strapless dresses, please ensure your stylish clothing is appropriate for the occasion.
  • If you choose to wear spike high heels, you will be asked to remove them (and check them with your coat) before stepping on the gym floor.  Flat surface pumps or wide chunky heels are generally allowed on the gym floor.

Have you heard? The Washoe Noshery Food truck will be at Damonte Ranch High School on Wednesday, September 12, for breakfast and lunch. Special menus have been prepared that include items such as a Hawaiian Breakfast Sandwich and a Mocha Smoothie for breakfast; and Pulled Pork Sliders, Pulled Pork Nachos, and a Vegetarian Baja Salad for lunch. Breakfast is $1.75, Lunch is $3.05 and a single entrée is $2.50. Cash, MySchoolBucks, or free/reduced accounts will be accepted.

For more information about this amazing program stop by during lunch at (Career Center) on Thursday September 13th to talk to the reps or please come see (Mrs. Aikin) at the career center for an application.

Attention Juniors.  Any student wishing to take the PSAT and National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test will need to register with the book keeper no later Friday September 28th.  The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on October 10th at 8am.  The fee to take the exam for juniors is $16.  There are only 150 slots available. (Please keep this is the loop for September.)

Ever wonder what the world is like beyond our own borders?  Would you like to know more about exotic places and cultures?  Are you from somewhere other than here? If you answer yes to any one of these questions, you belong in the International Club.  Stop by every Tuesday in room 108 at lunch and share your stories and listen to the exciting stories of other students.  It’s a nice way to enjoy lunch. Are you interested in being a paid math peer tutor outside of school hours?  Paid math peer tutors get paid at a rate of $10 per hour, and they must have an A in any course that they tutor for outside of school.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Ault in room 122 for more information.  (Run 8/24-8/31)

Would you like to earn $25, $50 or even $75?  All you have to do to submit to Damonte Ranch High School’s Literary magazine, Hoof Notes.  Instructions on how to submit are posted in your English class room.  You can submit short stories, poetry, music, plays, art, photography and more. Submissions can be anonymous.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Hellen in Room 116.
