PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Hey Damonte Ranch… are you interested in taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, ASVAB?  The ASVAB is the most widely used multiple aptitude test battery in the world, assesses a student’s ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs.  The Career Center will be hosting a test before the holiday break and would like those students who are interested to stop by and sign up with Mrs. Aikin.  This test is for juniors and seniors.

Congratulations the Damonte Mustangs that were accepted into Washoe County School District’s Honor Choir:  Cassandra Bovee, Anna Engel, Isaac Hickox-Young, bass section leader (highest score in all of Washoe County for bass singers), Brianna Hillaire, Helena Middleton, Joyce Pasillas, Mike Lyndon Rosario, Grace Tibben-Lembke, and Molly Willoughby.

Langston Hughes said, “I like to work, read, learn and understand life.”  So why not do all these things and attend the Literary Club meeting in Ms. Servilican’s room, # 214, this Thursday at lunch.  Now that we have a name for the literary magazine, we’ll be planning our agenda for the rest of the year and deciding on officers.  Come join us as we plan the literary magazine for Damonte Ranch High School! 

PICTURE RETAKE DAY IS TODAY,Tuesday, October 1^st, in the Gym Foyer.  If you need to retake your recent school picture or you did not get your picture taken on Picture Day, please stop by the gym foyer TODAY.  Picture packets are available in the Main Office.

Driver Education classes are offered at Damonte Ranch. The next class is Tuesday-Friday, October 15-18, 8 am - 3:30 pm. This class meets the 30-hour in the classroom requirement to receive a driver's license in Nevada for those under 18. The cost is $94. For more information or to register with a debit or credit card, call 829-9010.

Hey Damonte!  Are you looking for a good way to give to your community and yourself?  Well, we know just the solution.  This Friday, September 27th, NHS will be selling various baked goods at the entry of the Homecoming football game.  All proceeds will go to benefit Sierra Vista Elementary School.  So bring your school spirit and bring your generosity!  We would greatly appreciate your support!

Please join the cheerleaders for a spirit party on Friday before the home opener varsity football game from 5:30 to 6:30 on the grass at the back of the school.  They will be selling baked goods.  Support the Mustangs as they tackle the Reno Huskies and go for their fourth straight win.

Boys basketball Player Development has started! Sessions are Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays in the small gym right after school for any boys interested in trying out for a team and not participating in a fall sport. Please see Coach Sheets with any questions.

Do you know God?! Would you like to? Christian club is meeting on Wednesdays at lunch in room 212 with Mr. Sawyer, come and eat lunch and learn about Jesus Christ.  Everyone is welcome.

Hispanic Club Meeting will take place next Thursday, September 26^th, during lunch, Room 202.  This week's meeting has been canceled because of the testing.  Thank you!

NHS members, the weekly meeting will be on Friday this week due to the three hour delay on Thursday.  See you in Mrs. Depedro's room during lunch on Friday!

Alice Walker said, “No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.”  Literary Club will be meeting on Tuesday, September 24^th, at lunch in Ms. Servilican’s room.  Please bring your ideas for a name of our literary magazine and your willingness to work hard to showcase student writers at Damonte this year.  See you at lunch in Room 214 on Tuesday, September 24th.

TODAY IS AN “A” DAY

PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 19^Th ALL 10^TH GRADERS, are required to take the ACT Plan Test.  All 10^th graders, make sure you are in your designated testing room by 8:00 am on September 19.  Rosters will be posted outside of the counseling office.

THERE WILL BE A 3-HOUR DELAY on Thursday, September 19, for all 9^th, 11^th & 12^th graders, due to testing.
