PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you be something else is the greatest accomplishment.”  Literary Club, will be meeting on Thursday, November 7^th at lunch in Ms. Servilican’s room, #214.  Please be on time and ready to discuss the upcoming art contest for the literary magazine cover. 

JOSTEN’S WILL BE HERE AT DRHS Thursday & Friday, November 7^th & 8^th accepting class ring and graduation orders, from lunch until 2:30 pm in the counselors’ hallway.  Extra packets are located in the office.

Bunco night is TONIGHT, Monday, November 4^th, at 7 pm in the school cafeteria.  Everyone is welcome to come and have fun.  Tickets are $5 in advance in the school office or $6.00 at the door.  This event is brought to you by the DRHS Boosters. 

WINTER SPORTS CLEARANCE (BOYS/GIRLS BASKETBALL, WRESTLING & SKI) is OCTOBER 7^th through NOVEMBER 4^th. Athletic Clearance Packets can be picked up in the Main Office.  If you have played a Fall Sport and are interested in signing up for a Winter Sport, go to the main office and sign the clipboard at the Athletic Counter.

Attention Students -The library is hosting their annual “Food for Fines” drive.  If you owe less than $5.00 in library fines, you may bring in one can of food for every $1.00 that you owe in fines.  Thank you, Mrs. McRoberts

 The Fleet Reserve Association is sponsoring the “National Americanism Essay Contest”.  This year’s theme is “The Bill of Rights and Me”.  Grand prize is $5,000.00!  Stop by the Career Center for contest rules.  All essays are due by December 1^st.

THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON Friday, October 25^th, in observance of Nevada Day.

Literary Club!  Don’t forget our meeting today to finalize our fund raising next week.  Please come to Ms. Servilican’s room promptly! 

There will be a wrestling meeting for anyone who plans to wrestle this year in the Career Center Thursday, October 24^th, at Lunch.

There will be a mandatory wrestling meeting for all wrestlers to be weight certified for the 2013-2014 season on Monday, October 28th in the wrestling room after school.

Good Food for a Great Cause: Senior Fundraiser Friday, October 25th at Qdoba on Damonte Ranch Parkway from 2:30 to 11PM 20% of sales goes to the Senior Class.

The Violet Richardson Award Honoring Young Women for Volunteer Action - Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who exhibits leadership qualities as a volunteer in your community or school?  Who sees challenges instead of obstacles?   Hope instead of despair?  If you are or know a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you/she may be eligible for a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.  Stop by the Career Center for more information.

The English Department would like to congratulate the following students for being the September students of the month:  Juan Sanchez-Silva, Alexandra Pollock, Emma Farr, Christian Pilley, Vanessa Ferrara-Ipatzi, Michael Reeves and Alex Chavez.  Your enthusiasm and work ethic are commendable in our English classes here at Damonte Ranch High School.  Please view their pictures and words of recognition in the display case between rooms 214 and 216 in the upstairs hallway.
