PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

 

Today is A “B” DAY

 

How would you like to see your choice of teacher duct taped to a wall? For just a dollar you can vote from a list of teachers to be taped. The two teachers with the most votes will be our lucky winners. We have teachers such as Ms. Jackson, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Capelin, vice principle Bell, and dean Finnigan as well as others. So come to the main hall at lunch to cast your vote.

 

BSU will be having a lunch meeting on Friday, October 16 in room 211 at lunch.   If you are interested in meeting new people, serving your community and spreading the message of tolerance, please come to our meeting and find out what BSU is all about.  Again, BSU will meet Friday at lunch in room 211.

 

Driver's Education will be offered here over Fall Break.  Classes usually fill up, so be sure to sign up early.  Flyers with signup info are available in the office or call Community Education at 829-9010.

 

Josten’s will be at DRHS Monday & Tuesday, October 19^th & 20^th, accepting class ring and graduation orders, from lunch through the end of school, in the Counselor’s Hallway.  Extra packets are located in the office.

 

Attention all Damonte Ranch Students

The Damonte Ranch Marksman Ship Team is holding tryouts on October 19^th-22^nd.  Everyone is welcome to come.  There are open spots on JV and Varsity squads.  If you have any questions, contact Commander Van Buren via email or in room 131.

SENIORS INTERESTED IN TMCC: This Wednesday night is Senior night at TMCC. It will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 up at the main Dandini Campus in the Sierra Bldg. Rm. 108. Bring your parent or bring a friend… but get up to TMCC Wednesday night and see the campus and investigate the exciting things they have to offer and how you can be a part of it!

 

Damonte Ranch is offering free ASVAB assessment testing on November 4^th.  The ASVAB is a free test offered to help you know where your strengths lie in specific career fields.  The ASVAB is also used by the government and military for career field placement.  The test will be given at 12:00 on November 4^th.  Students that are interested in taking the test can sign up in the Career Center to reserve a spot.  Spots are limited so sign up today!

 

LOOKING FOR A FUN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY? HELP IS NEEDED FOR A “THOMAS THE TRAIN EVENT” OVER FALL BREAK IN VIRGINIA CITY. The V & T Railroad is in need of volunteers the weekend of Oct 30, Oct 31 and Nov 1.

(THERE IS A CHOICE OF 3 SHIFTs, all day or half day.
Volunteers will help with children and their families as they take a 25 minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine.  Volunteers will help in the Imagination Station Caboose, the Coloring Caboose, and help serve lunch in the P.B. & J Pullman car. Or they will help with other Thomas-themed activities including motor car rides, and golf at Sudor Village.  Also, there will be a goat petting zoo, bean bag throw, i pad station, and assisting a photographer. Volunteers will receive a free shirt and lunch will be provided. MUST ENJOY CHILDREN. Call Carole if interested. 771-7069.)

 

Recently numerous bikes have been stolen from the school bike racks, each bike was locked up with a cable style bike lock which was cut.  Anyone with information may contact Secret Witness at 329.6666 or School Police.  If you are currently riding your bike to school, you may want to consider investing in a U-shape bike lock. 

 

Attention Seniors, you have one month left to make your appointment with Lifetouch and take your Senior Portraits! Remember, if you don’t make an appointment with Lifetouch before November 19^th then your memorable Senior Portrait will NOT be in the Yearbook! Lifetouch has extended hours for Fall Break, Monday through Friday from 10am to 7pm! Call today at 851-0444. Again, call today at 851-0444.

 

Attention students: You are wanted!!  For what, you ask?  DANCING WITH THE STAFF!!!  That’s right, Dancing With the Staff!  This event is a big fundraiser for your dance team and we need you to participate.  We are looking for students to partner up with a teacher or staff member to become this year’s dance champion.  If you are interested in signing up, please tell any dance team member or Coach Roybal, or sign up with Mrs. Kenyon in the front office.  We are looking for boys and girls to participate and the show is scheduled for January, 28.  You won’t want to miss out on this super fun event!!!  Thank You and see you on the dance floor.  (Run until 10/16)

We've had terrific audiences for the first two nights of Alice in Wonderland!  Didn't make it to the show yet?  Well, you have two more opportunities to see the show!  Today the show is running after school at 3:00, and again tomorrow morning, at 10:00.  Tickets are available at the door or in advance from Mrs. Kenyon in the office today!  Don't miss out on this creative, fun show!

When you give blood, you can help save the lives of up to three local hospital patients.  United Blood services is coming to Damonte TOMORROW from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.  Sign up to donate with a blood drive team member in the counselor’s hallway today at lunch.  You must be at least 16 years old, 110 pounds, have your parent’s written permission, and be in relatively good health to donate.  Be a lifesaver, sign up today!  Donors, please eat a hearty breakfast tomorrow morning! (Run October 8)

It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.  Testing starts at 12:00 until 4:00 pm. There will be a signup sheet in the Career Center to reserve your spot.

Have you ever thought about helping your fellow student with special needs?  How about just being their friend and listening to their funny jokes?   Well then have I got the club for you!!!   The Best Buddies Club!   The Best Buddies Organization in a National Organization that helps partner students with their fellow peers that have special needs.  There are fun events to attend, activities to do together and just plain getting to know your really fun fellow students!!   If this sounds like the club for you, please be sure to attend our first meeting on Wednesday, October 7^th at lunch time in the Career Center.  Hope to see you there.
