TODAY IS AN “A” DAY

PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Math Peer tutors are needed next semester for every period except for period 2.  Please see Mrs. Ault in room 122 if you are interested. (run 12/11-12/16)

Tis the season of giving! What better way to show your friends, teachers, or that special someone you care by sending them a holiday candy gram! That's right, they're back, and they're being sold Wednesday and Thursday this week. Remember to bring your money in tomorrow because they will not be sold on Friday! They are only 2 for $1, so come on by the table in the Counselor's Hallway during lunch and buy them today!

LOST AND FOUND  If you have lost a coat, jacket or sweatshirt. Please come to the Corral and check the lost and found items.  Items that have not been claimed by December 20th will be donated to Goodwill.

Attention all you writers, poets and artists!  Entries for the literary magazine are slowly trickling in but we need your work to make this happen this year.   Please consider submitting your poetry, short stories, art work and even nonfiction pieces to the magazine for consideration.  The more pieces we have, the better the magazine.  The envelopes along with submission forms are in your English classrooms and the library.  Fill out a submission form and submit your work now!
Also, any entries for the cover of Hoof Notes must be submitted by Friday before we leave for the holidays!  We’ve had several submitted already, but are hoping for more.  All you artists and graphic designers, please consider submitting for our cover this year!  Never think, I won’t win, because you have a chance and there’s a $50.00 gift certificate to Meadowood Mall along with the win!  See Ms. Servilican in room 214 for more information.

Hey Damonte!  It’s not too late to join the bowling team.  Any level or ability is welcome.  We practice on Mondays and have matches on Wednesdays.  For more information please see Ms. Wallace in the bookkeeping office.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for!  Dancing With The Staff is this Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. in the theater.  Ticket price is $8 per seat.  Each paid admission gives you one voting ticket to choose this year’s dance champion. Come out and see your favorite teachers and peers dance the night away including many new comers! Presale tickets go on sale on Monday, December 9 from Coach Bauman, any dance team member or Mrs. Kenyon in the office.  Pre-sale tickets get you in early so buy yours early! See you on Friday!

Enjoy a night off from cooking and head over to Qdoba Mexican Grill in the Walmart Center on Wednesday, December 11th.  When you place your order between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm, either show the cashier this email or let them know you want Damonte Ranch High School to receive fundraising credit for your purchase.  This is a delicious way to raise money for DRHS and you can either dine in or take out!  Qdoba Mexican Grill will donate 20% of your purchase to Damonte and all money raised will go to support the 3 A's - academics, arts and athletics.  See you at Qdoba!

There will be a mandatory track and field meeting for all boys track and field athletes on Thursday 12/12, and all girl track and field athletes on Friday, 12/13.  Both meetings will take place in Coach Woo’s room 111 during lunch. If athletes have any questions to please talk to Coach Harrison and Coach Alian.

Jostens will be here Friday, December 13th to deliver class rings at lunch.

Attention Students:
The library has a new policy that all students must sign in and out of the library during class and I. C.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. McRoberts.

Damonte, can you imagine going to bed hungry each night, knowing that the next morning you still may not have any food? FCA and ROTC are partnering together for a canned food drive.  Last year, we competed against schools across our district, and we brought in 1500 pounds of food, which was enough for first place.  This year, our goal is 2000 pounds of canned food.  You can help out by bringing canned food or other non-perishable items to your first period class, and members of FCA and ROTC will come and pick them up.  The drive goes from Dec 3 to Dec 17th.  Thanks Damonte, for helping out those who have less than you do.

The 2013-2014 Student Speakers Contest sponsored by the Lions Club is seeking students, grades 9 through 12, who excel in public speaking to enter their contest.  Scholarship awards are granted to those winners.  This year’s topic:  Electoral College:  Passé or Good for the Country.  If you would like more information about this contest please stop by the Career Center.

Driver Education classes are offered at Damonte Ranch during the January intersession. The class is Monday-Thursday, January 6 - 9, 8 am - 3:30 pm. This class meets the 30-hour in the classroom requirement to receive a driver's license in Nevada for those under 18. The cost is $94. For more information or to register with a debit or credit card, call 829-9010.
