PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

 

Today is AN “A” DAY

 

Damonte Ranch is offering free ASVAB assessment testing on November 4^th.  The ASVAB is a free test offered to help you know where your strengths lie in specific career fields.  The ASVAB is also used by the government and military for career field placement.  The test will be given at 12:00 on November 4^th.  Students that are interested in taking the test can sign up in the Career Center to reserve a spot.  Spots are limited so sign up today!

 

Winter Sports are coming!!!

Any students interested in playing a WINTER sport, Boys & Girls Basketball, Wrestling & Ski, pick up an athletic packet in the main office.  Clearance dates will be November 2 - November 10, 2015.  Students who have played a fall sport, and are interested in signing up for a winter sport, may go to the Main Office and sign the clipboard at the Athletic Counter.

 

Hey Students!   Have you ever thought about how wonderful it would be to develop a lasting friendship with one of your peers with Special Needs?  This fabulous opportunity is available to you right here at Damonte Ranch!!  Tuesday at lunch the Best Buddies Organization will have a booth to provide you with all the information you need to be matched up with a Best Buddy right here on our own campus!!  Don’t miss your chance to find out more about this rewarding opportunity right on your own Mustang Turf!  Hope to see you there!

 

Seniors who will be taking Proficiency Exams this week should check the board next to the Counseling Office to find the locations of your tests.  Monday, October 19-Math; Tuesday, October 20-Reading; Wednesday, October 21-Writing; Thursday, October 22-Science.  Be in your testing location no later than 8 am.

 

ATTENTION IC/FS TEACHERS,

Guess what??

NHS is putting again our pumpkin decorating contest this year! In order to participate you must:

·       Donate a minimum of $5 per IC/FS –you can always donate more!!

·       Choose a charity/non-profit organization

Pumpkins will be dropped off on Monday October 19^th to IC/Fs and collected on Thursday- October 22^nd. All proceeds will go to the charity/non-profit entered with the winning pumpkin. Pumpkins will be judged at the carnival evening Friday October 23^rd. Please, respond to this email if your IC/FS wants to participate in this event NOT later than October 15^th.

Driver's Education will be offered here over Fall Break.  Classes usually fill up, so be sure to sign up early.  Flyers with signup info are available in the office or call Community Education at 829-9010.

 

Josten’s will be at DRHS Monday & Tuesday, October 19^th & 20^th, accepting class ring and graduation orders, from lunch through the end of school, in the Counselor’s Hallway.  Extra packets are located in the office.

 

Attention all Damonte Ranch Students

The Damonte Ranch Marksman Ship Team is holding tryouts on October 19^th-22^nd.  Everyone is welcome to come.  There are open spots on JV and Varsity squads.  If you have any questions, contact Commander Van Buren via email or in room 131.

 

LOOKING FOR A FUN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY? HELP IS NEEDED FOR A “THOMAS THE TRAIN EVENT” OVER FALL BREAK IN VIRGINIA CITY. The V & T Railroad is in need of volunteers the weekend of Oct 30, Oct 31 and Nov 1.

(THERE IS A CHOICE OF 3 SHIFTs, all day or half day.
Volunteers will help with children and their families as they take a 25 minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine.  Volunteers will help in the Imagination Station Caboose, the Coloring Caboose, and help serve lunch in the P.B. & J Pullman car. Or they will help with other Thomas-themed activities including motor car rides, and golf at Sudor Village.  Also, there will be a goat petting zoo, bean bag throw, i pad station, and assisting a photographer. Volunteers will receive a free shirt and lunch will be provided. Attention Seniors, you have one month left to make your appointment with Lifetouch and take your Senior Portraits! Remember, if you don’t make an appointment with Lifetouch before November 19^th then your memorable Senior Portrait will NOT be in the Yearbook! Attention students: You are wanted!!  For what, you ask?  DANCING WITH THE STAFF!!!  That’s right, Dancing With the Staff!  This event is a big fundraiser for your dance team and we need you to participate.  We are looking for students to partner up with a teacher or staff member to become this year’s dance champion.  If you are interested in signing up, please tell any dance team member or Coach Roybal, or sign up with Mrs. Kenyon in the front office.  We are looking for boys and girls to participate and the show is scheduled for January, 28.  You won’t want to miss out on this super fun event!!!  Thank You and see you on the dance floor.  (Run until 10/16)

 

Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.
