Safety

Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety. If your student hears about a possible
threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it
to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it. Please tell your student to refrain from
posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and
panic. Remember, your student’s
responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain
anonymous.
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on
each school bus to help keep students safe.
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill. The best way for students to help during
an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the
emergency procedures they practice.
Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:

Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate
the building and where to report to.
·
A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the
occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than
normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·
A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or
impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near
campus).
·
A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency. A trained Code Blue team responds to
medical emergencies.
Students have
already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code
blue drill this school year. Safety
is always our primary concern!

JV AND FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL IS CANCELLED FOR TODAY, Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
The first game of the season for boys soccer is
Wednesday,
August 28. JV starts at 5 pm and Varsity
starts at 6:45 pm at the stadium.
Students with a paid activity fee get in free.
Hey Mustangs! The No Opportunity Wasted college
prep program is now accepting new student registrations for this school
year. Any 9th through 12th grade student interested
can apply to participate in this unique college prep program. Registration deadline is August 28th and the
kick off is August 31st. Please see the front office
for more information and to pick up program flyers.
Attention mustangs! All Freshmen, we are
opening up class elections for the positions of class president, vice
president, secretary and treasurer. If
you are interested in being that spirited representative for your class,
election packets will be available in room 226, the Main Office and the Career Center
starting Friday, August 23rd, 2019. You
can find more information in the packets or contact Student Body President Bre

Trip
through antiquity with Mr. Kaplan over Spring break as we visit Italy
and Greece. For more information, see
Mr. Kaplan in Room 206. Must be responsible
and have a teacher that can recommend you going. (Run through 9/6)
Homecoming
is a few weeks away!!! Now’s
your chance to design our homecoming t-shirt.
Our theme is “Reno- the Biggest Little City”. Got any ideas? Submit your homecoming theme t-shirt logos to
Mrs. Norton in room 226. All logo
submissions are due Friday, September 6th. The winning logo or logos will be on our
homecoming t-shirt.
Speaking of
homecoming- this year we will have a tailgate party before the big game on
September 20th. Tickets will
go on sale September 16th.
The first 100 who buy tickets to the tailgate party get a free
homecoming shirt. More information
coming soon including spirit dress up day themes.
The
American Heart Association is looking for volunteers for the Heart Walk this
Year on September 15 from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.
