Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety.  If your student hears about a possible threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it.  Please tell your student to refrain from posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and panic.  Remember, your student’s responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain anonymous. 
 
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on each school bus to help keep students safe.       
 
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill.  The best way for students to help during an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the emergency procedures they practice.  Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:
 
·         Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate the building and where to report to.
·         A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·         A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near campus).
·         A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency.  A trained Code Blue team responds to medical emergencies.
Students have already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code blue drill this school year.  Safety is always our primary concern!

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

 

TODAY IS A “B” DAY

 

Our Cross Country Mustangs had a really strong day at the League Championships on Friday and are carrying good momentum going into Regionals this weekend.  The Varsity girls won for the 6th season in a row.  Carley Legenbauer is a two-time League Champion, followed closely by Marena Middleton in 2nd place!  Vanessa Lopez finished 10th, Kaylyn Ibarra 14th, and Hailey Pedersen rounded out the scoring in 15th place. Great job ladies!

 

The Varsity boys had their strongest showing ever and finished in 3rd place. Connor Van Cott led the way in 6th place, followed closely by Freshman Cyrus Evans in 9th, Alton Edwards in 10th, and Luca Bucciachio in 12th and Conan Porter in 20th to close out the score!  Way to go, guys!

 

Come out to the Regional Championships and Support these amazing athletes on Saturday (November 2) as they attempt to Qualify for the State Championships (Top 3 teams advance)!

 

Girls: 11:10am

 

Boys: 1:15pm

 

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors, if you took the AAPPL Exam please see Mrs. Hernandez in room 234 to receive your scores.

 

Attention Seniors

There will be a senior class meeting in the THEATER Thursday, 10/31, at lunch.  We will see you there.

You might have heard of David Wise… Olympic medalist for freestyle skiing.  Well, guess what?  David Wise is coming to DAMONTE to speak at FCA on Wednesday, November 6th, during lunch in room 124.  Everyone is welcome to attend!


 

 

Anyone still interested in joining the bowling team.  Make sure to get your registration packet from Mr. Fournier in room W251.

Bowling begins Wednesday October 30th at the Coconut Bowl from 3:15-5:15.

Any current senior who have already earned their government credit or are not enrolled in a government class 1st semester please see Mr. Polson in room 210 to receive your graduation Jostens packet.  This packet contains VERY important information in regards to ordering your graduation announcements and cap and gown.  The order date is coming up VERY soon.  (Run through November 4, 2019)

 

Students, you must a have a student ID with a paid student activity stamp marked on your ID in order to enter home sporting events for free.  Students who do not have the stamp are required to pay the entrance fee of $4 for all home events.  If you would like to get the stamp please see the book keeper to pay the $25 student activity fee.

 

Please drop off your class jewelry and graduation orders with Jostens on Wednesday and Thursday, October 30th & 31st during lunch through the end of school, by the Office.  Packets are available from the school office.

ATTENTION SENIORS 

Washoe County Safe and Sober is excited to announce the Senior class of 2020 will celebrate graduation on the last day of school.  Come celebrate with your senior class and other Northern Nevada high school seniors 

Where?  Six Flags, Vallejo CA 

When?  Friday, June 5, 2020- the last day of school 

Tickets are now on sale for $190 and must be purchased in advance.  Space is limited- first come first serve.  Deposit to hold your spot is $40 ASAP and monthly payments are available.   

 All the information and registration forms will be given out in government classes and can be found in Mrs. Norton’s room 226.
