Student Safety

Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety.  If your student hears about a possible threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it.  Please tell your student to refrain from posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and panic.  Remember, your student’s responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain anonymous. 
 
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on each school bus to help keep students safe.       
 
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill.  The best way for students to help during an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the emergency procedures they practice.  Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:
 
·         Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate the building and where to report to.
·         A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·         A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near campus).
·         A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency.  A trained Code Blue team responds to medical emergencies.
Students have already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code blue drill this school year.  Safety is always our primary concern!

$3 donation served at the beginning of lunch – you are able to prepay to save your dish.  See Mrs. Thiede in room 117

 

Attention Students:

Are you interested in playing a Winter Sport, Boys/Girls Basketball, Wrestling or Ski?  The final deadline is November 12.  You must register online at www.registermyathlete.com. by November 12.

This program only works with Firefox or Google Chrome.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Daniels in the Main Office.

 

Hola Amigos! Hispanic Club will be celebrating the Day of the Dead, on Friday, November 15 at lunch time by the Career Center. As part of this traditional celebration, we invite you to enjoy a very tasty Mexican sweet bread with a hot chocolate. Donations will be $4.00.

Have you ever wondered if you can kick a field goal?  Do you like to eat at Cane’s?  FCA is sponsoring a field goal kicking contest on Wednesday, November 13th during lunch.  The event is free to enter, and the winner will win a gift card for Canes.  Although the event is free, donations are being accepted.  All donations will go toward shipping school supplies to a needy school in Zambia.  Again, the event is during lunch on Wed 11/13.  Students are welcome to come out and support their friends!

Trip through antiquity with Mr. Kaplan over Spring break as we visit Italy and Greece.  For more information, see Mr. Kaplan in Room 206.  Must be responsible and have a teacher that can recommend you going.
