Attention Sophomores! On Thursday
morning we will be holding the vision and hearing screening for all Sophomores
and any upperclassmen who have not had this done in high school. If you
wear glasses or contacts, please remember to wear them on Thursday so you pass
your screening. We will be calling Sophomores down to the library
alphabetically, so please listen for your letter and come down at the
designated time.
Teachers,
we thank you for your cooperation, and we plan to get the students back in
class as quickly as possible. On 2/18 and 2/19 please
announce
Blind Date With a Book is going strong! Connect with that
special someone – I mean book – and live happily ever after! Stop in the
library to choose a book to read and love from the display for your chance to
win $50! Yes, $50!!
Jostens will be here on Monday, February 24th, delivering graduation
announcement boxes, by the office, from 9:30 a.m. - Noon. If you have not
ordered your cap and gown and announcements, please order with Jostens during
lunch.
Need a little pocket money? The kitchen has 3
positions available for 3 reliable and dependable students to work. Pay is $8
per hour plus free meal for the shift/shifts worked, Monday thru Friday

Prom tickets are on sale for all juniors and seniors. Cost is $40 per
person or $75 per couple. You can buy them at lunch OR online
at www.washoeschools.net/drhs
Guest passes are available in the corral or hanging up in counselor hallway.
“We bleed blue and green”! March 4th is our Blood
drive. Be a hero- Make an appointment to give blood and save 3
lives. You must be 16 or older. Look for sign up tables during
lunch next week. Those that give blood get a free t-shirt and $10 amazon
gift card. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Norton in room 226.
Hey class of 2020- It's not
too late to sign up for Grad Night. We have 23 more spaces on our
bus. See a flyer or Mrs. Norton for details. (Please
announce starting February 18th)

This is Mrs. Hernández with an important message for Juniors and
Seniors. Do you speak a world language other than English? Are you interested in taking the (Pronounce
“apple”) * AAPPL Exam and obtaining the Seal of Biliteracy on your High School
Diploma? The State Seal of Biliteracy is
a recognition given to graduating high school students who have attained a high
level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. DRHS will be offering the AAPPL Exam on
February 25th and the deadline to register is February 20th.

Attention Damonte Ranch Mustangs...are you looking for community service hours? On Friday, February 21st from 5pm-9pm Hidden
Valley Elementary school is hosting a fundraiser. This event is set up to allow parents and
guardians of students at HVES the “night off” or a date night or whatever they
choose and we will babysitting the students in the multi-purpose room at the
school. They are looking for students to
help watch and play with the kids. If
you 're interested stop by the Career Center for the contact information.
Hey Mustangs on Wednesday March 4th Damonte will be hosting the
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, ASVAB. This is a
multiple-choice test that helps you identify which Army jobs (Military
Occupational Specialties) would be best for you. Sign up for this test is in the Career Center.

Hey Mustangs-Are you between the ages of 15-17? There are two wonderful
opportunities where you can be a part of an upcoming youth
leadership program. The first is the Kenyan Youth Leadership
Program, which takes place April 15th-29th and the Algerian
Youth Leadership Program, which takes place June 15th -July 8th. Deadline for both is February 16th. For more information, stop by the Career
Center.
Attention Mustang Junior Girls…are you interested in
attending Nevada Girls State? Nevada
Girls State is a week-long leadership program for outstanding young women who
have just completed their Junior year in high school. It is presented by the American Legion
Auxiliary. It is the week of June 21-27,
