Today is an “A” DAY

The environmental club asks that you please recycle your glass, cardboard, white and pastel-colored paper, aluminum, and plastic containers in the blue recycling bins here at Damonte Ranch. There’s one located on each side of the second floor, one each by the ROTC hall and the end of the counselors’ hall, and one by the main entrance. We ask that you don’t use the recycling bins to dispose of plastic bags, wrappers, Styrofoam, food, or things with food on them. Also be aware of the fact that there should be a recycling box in every teacher’s room for their and your convenience, that you may use as well. Thank you! the Environmental Club meets every Wednesday at lunch in room 206.

Christian club will be meeting in the rifle range (room 131) on Wednesdays 11:05-11:40.  Bring your lunch.  Everyone is welcome!

Mustangs!  Have you ever watched an assembly and thought to yourself, "Wow, I wish I could be an MC!"  If so, StuCo is looking for YOU!  Students who aren't afraid of the spotlight and are willing to show off their amazing speaking abilities are encouraged to audition as an MC for the upcoming Homecoming Assembly.  Auditions will be held August 24th during lunch in Mr. Pence's room 121.  Sign up sheets will be posted outside room 121 and room 101.  We can't wait to see you there! 

 

Would you like to help other students in math and earn some money for doing this?  Students who are interested in being a paid peer tutor outside of school hours should see Mrs. Ault in room 122 for more information.  Run through 8/24

·       Picture day will be held on Tuesday August 25^th and Wednesday the 26^th during your English class.

·       Teachers you can take your picture during your prep, lunch or after school till 3:15pm

·       If you wish to purchase pictures, there will be forms and flyers in the office.

Are you looking for a place to win great scholarships, have fun, and do awesome local and international service projects? Come to Key Club Monday August 24th at lunch in Ms. Bright's, room 218. We'll have some treats at our first meeting and you'll learn more about this internationally recognized extra-curricular. Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.

ACT test deadline Friday August 21^st for the September 12^th test date.

• A student's ACT score can be used for applying to ANY US college or university, including Ivy League institutions and other highly selective schools.
• Not all colleges and universities require a writing test for admission—the ACT writing test is optional, saving students time and money.
• The ACT test score is based on the number of correct answers, with no points deducted for guessing.

Register for the September 12 test date at www.actstudent.org. The deadline to register is Friday, August 21.*

 

There will be a Literary Club meeting this Friday during lunch in Room 214, Ms. Servilican’s room.  Please come and help us as we look to introduce last year’s literary magazine.
