PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Today is a “B” DaY

What are you doing this Saturday at 2:30?  Coming to our Dance Studio to see the touring production of “Living Legends” for only a $2 donation, with all proceeds to benefit the Performing Arts Center!  This production is a celebration of Native American, Polynesian, and Latin American music and dance.  “Living Legends” will also perform at the Pioneer Center for MUCH more than $2 on Saturday night, so come check it out on the sly before the rest of Reno joins in!

Ever thought about auditioning for the musical at Damonte Ranch, but were unsure about what’s expected?!  Then come check out the Pre-Audition Workshops after school in the theatre on February 3rd, 5th, and 11thPal Joey is a gritty musical comedy from the late 1930’s, with some similarities to popular musicals like Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, and Chicago!  You won’t want to miss out!  Check out the bulletin board outside the theatre for a list of characters, songs, and audition information.  Still have questions?  See Mr. Hearn!

Hello Mustangs! Today the Varsity boys, Varsity girls and JV girls are all playing at Wooster High School. At these games, you have an amazing opportunity to support a great cause.  Wooster High School is running a No Kid Hungry campaign!  How can you help end child hunger?  Buy a shirt for $5 during lunch in the counselor’s hallway.  Oh yeah…WEAR your shirt to the game and you get in free!  This is for the @Wooster games Today only.  And if you’d like, perishable donations will be accepted at the gate.  Shirts will also be sold at the gate.  Hope to see you there, Damonte.

the International Club will meet on Friday, January 31, at lunch in room 232.  We will have a guest speaker who will be talking about Southeast Asia.  We’ll see you there!

ATTENTION SENIORS:  Did you attend Pleasant Valley Elementary school?  The Career Center now has the application for the Pleasant Valley Elementary school scholarship.  Deadline is March 24th.  Also, if your parent(s) are teachers for the WCSD and belong to Washoe Educators Association (WEA) there are four scholarships opportunities for you.  Please stop in the Career Center and see Mrs. Aikin.

Seniors...Don't miss out on a Fun-Filled Grad Trip to Magic Mountain in Valencia, California!  The trip includes chartered bus transportation, admission into the park, breakfast, lunch and dinner, dancing to a DJ and much, much more!  The cost of the trip is $150.  Space is very limited!  To reserve your seat send in your $50 nonrefundable deposit to Mrs. Aikin in the Career Center ASAP.

The Literary Club would like to congratulate freshman Erin Moyer as the winner of our cover for Hoof Notes this semester.  She is the lucky winner of a $50.00 gift card to Meadowood Mall and can pick up her prize from Ms. Servilican in room 214.  Congratulations Erin and thanks for a great cover that will highlight our magazine in May!

The Literary Club would also like to encourage all students to keep those poems, short stories, non-fiction pieces and artwork coming!  We are looking for many more submissions.  Thank you to those of you who’ve already submitted your work.  Remember, envelopes for submission are in all the English classes and in the library.  As Stephen King said, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things:  read a lot and write a lot.”
