PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Today is aN “a” DAY

SPRING BREAK – March 30-April 10, 2015

Amigos!  5 de Mayo is coming!!!  Hispanic Club is preparing exciting activities for the whole school. As part of the traditional lunch celebration, the club is going to host the World Cultures’ Event.  If you would like to participate, contact Mrs.Long (Room 217), Mrs. Gutierrez (Room 202), or Mrs. Chavez (Room 234). You can get a table and represent the country of your choice.  Artifacts, pictures, food (you can offer samples or sell food) are just a few of the possibilities.  All the DRHS clubs are welcome to join us!  Let’s have fun at 5 de Mayo!

Congratulations PAC Drama for every single performer earning either gold of silver medals in their events at the State Thespian Conference in Las Vegas last weekend!

Our one-act play earned silver, as well as the following students:
Riley Berriesford and Charlie Reickers, duo acting
Ben Sharp, Wendy Crenshaw, Lauren Pretlove, Dani Dymond, Zoey Mendoza, and Elena Hughes, monologues
Heather Renner, Katie Hughes, and Thomas Chubb, solo musical theatre

Earning gold were:
Maggie Regier, Jasper Coverdale, and Sydni Bringhurst, monologues
Brianna Hughes, short film
Hannah Eckert, solo musical theatre
Jasper Coverdale and Luke Allen, duo acting
Hannah Eckert and Maggie Regier, duo acting with a showcase performance, which indicates top scores!

Finally, over the weekend Elena Hughes finished her one year term as a state board member for Nevada Thespians, and Ben Sharp was voted in for the upcoming year.

Great job, PAC Drama--way to represent at State!

Band students will be selling snacks at lunch Wednesday and Thursday outside of the band room.

Literary Club, we will NOT be meeting this week.  I repeat, will NOT be meeting this week.

Attention students!  What is up with the apathy this year?  Last year by this time, Hoof Notes literary magazine had a ton of entries.  This year, we are afraid we may not have a publication if the student writers, artists, dramatists, and creators do not step up and submit.  We thank those of you who have already submitted, but we need many more submissions to publish our magazine.  Pick up a submission sheet in any English classroom, the library, or art hallway.  Fill it out, attach it to your submission and drop it in the envelope.  Two weeks after spring break we will stop taking submissions so get your story, illustration, dramatic interpretation in today.  Remember, this year, we are also looking for submissions written in foreign languages.  See Ms. Servilican in room 214 for more information!  C’mon Damonte, we know you can do this!

ATTENTION SENIORS:
You should have received your Grad. Night Disneyland information packet in your Government class on Thursday, March 12th.  Deadline for your deposit is Friday March 27th to Mrs. Aikin in the Career Center.  There are extra packets in the Career Center.
Are you interested in participating in your graduation ceremony?  Stop by the Career Center to sign up to audition for either a speech or musical performance.  Seniors only please.

Attention Volleyball players:  Open gyms have changed to Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3pm – 5pm through the end of the school year.  For more info check the volleyball website or see Coach Wallace in the bookkeeper’s office.

FROM WCSD COMMUNITY EDUCATION
A Driver Education class will be offered at Damonte Ranch during spring break, April 6-9.  This 30-hour class fulfills the classroom requirement for a driver's license in Nevada if you are under 18.  The cost is $94.  For more information, pick up a flier at your school's counselors office or call 829-9010 for more information and to register.
