PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Today is aN “A” DaY

The Literary Club is meeting this Friday at lunch in Ms. Servilican’s room, #214.  If you plan to participate, you must be at this meeting.  Remember, Friday, lunch, room 214!

The Literary Club is looking for writers!  We still need many poems, short stories, art work, photography, personal narratives and more.  Get a submission form from your English class, fill it out and drop it in the envelope, we’ll do the rest.  The end of March is the last month to submit any pieces of writing, so do it now. 

Hey seniors! There will be a Senior class meeting this Wednesday during Lunch in the theater, we are narrowing down to our last few meetings, so it is critical to have all seniors attend, hope to see you all there!

Do you love the Tumblr/Twitter Valentine’S day cards? They will be sold during lunch this whole week in the counselor’s hall for 50 cents, each one to comes with chocolate and they will delivered personally to the person of your choice, whether it be your girlfriend or boyfriend, close friends, or even you favorite teachers on Valentine’s day, get them before they're gone.

Hey Damonte, it’s that time of year again! Get ready to get decked out in pink and blue for the biggest rivalry in history! This week is our 2014 Greek Olympics Battle of the Sexes Spirit Week and Assembly! Tuesday, come to school as an athlete or spectator. Attire such as sports uniforms, fanny packs and visors are encouraged. Wednesday is Flag Day so represent your favorite country by wearing the colors of their flag. Thursday is Winter vs. Summer Olympics. Whether you’re shredding some fresh powder or playing some beach volleyball, dress for your favorite season. Friday is Pink vs. Blue so suit up in your color and get ready for the Battle of the Sexes Assembly.  Don’t forget, Damonte!  Dress code applies and you’ll need to purchase a hat wristband from the corral for a $1.

Would you like to send a love song to your Valentine?  The choir students are selling “singing Valentine’s” this week.  For only $2, you can send a singing valentine to anyone on campus – boyfriend, girlfriend, teacher, best friend – ANYONE!  Students will be selling in the counselor’s hallway today through Thursday during lunch, and Valentines will be delivered during IC on Thursday and Friday. 

The JV and varsity cheer teams placed 1st at the Rail City Cheer Competition if their divisions. The varsity all girl stunt pod placed 3rd. The varsity team had the highest overall team score to earn the title of Grand Champions.  Congratulations to the Damonte Ranch Cheer Teams!

Attention DRHS, anyone interested in being on the Swim team there is a meeting in room 104 on Tuesday, Feb. 11th at lunch.

All boys that are interested in playing golf this spring there will be an informative meeting with Coach Magrum in room 107 on Tuesday, February 11th at lunch.  If you can’t attend the meeting please go to room 107 to get information for Boys Golf. 

Hola amigos: Valentine’s Day is coming up and Hispanic Club will be selling Valentine’s grams at lunch, through Thursday, February 13th. You can reach us in front of the Career Center to buy one, and give someone a greeting for this day with a nice Valentine gram. Please provide the fifth period room number for delivery. Deliveries will be made on Friday, February 14th at 5*

Track & Field Pre-Season Workouts are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 3 pm-4:30 pm.  Meet at the Track.

Ever thought about auditioning for the musical at Damonte Ranch, but were unsure about what’s expected?!  Then come check out the Pre-Audition Workshops after school in the theatre on February 11thPal Joey is a gritty musical comedy from the late 1930’s, with some similarities to popular musicals like Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, and Chicago!  You won’t want to miss out!  Check out the bulletin board outside the theatre for a list of characters, songs, and audition information.  Still have questions?  See Mr. Hearn!

ATTENTION SENIORS:  Did you attend Pleasant Valley Elementary school?  The Career Center now has the application for the Pleasant Valley Elementary school scholarship.  Deadline is March 24th.  Also, if your parent(s) are teachers for the WCSD and belong to Washoe Educators Association (WEA) there are four scholarships opportunities for you.  Please stop in the Career Center and see Mrs. Aikin.

Seniors...Don't miss out on a Fun-Filled Grad Trip to Magic Mountain in Valencia, California!  The trip includes chartered bus transportation, admission into the park, breakfast, lunch and dinner, dancing to a DJ and much, much more!  The cost of the trip is $150.  Space is very limited!  To reserve your seat send in your $50 nonrefundable deposit to Mrs. Aikin in the Career Center ASAP.
