Today is aN “A” DaY

Next week there is HSPE testing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, March 3rd-6th, for 10th graders and any Junior or Senior who hasn't passed these proficiencies.  That means 8 am Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for testers and a delayed start Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for everyone else.  Class begins at 11:15 because of testing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Wednesday, March 5th, is the writing proficiency for any junior or senior who hasn't already passed.  Looks like its testing week!  Eat a good breakfast and come prepared to succeed!

The Student Store is open daily during lunch and is now open after school every day except for Wednesdays.

If you thought the staff play was funny, prepare yourself for Mr. Mustang!  This male beauty pageant is full of mighty mustangs and laughs! It will happen THIS Friday at 8 p.m. in the theater, with a bake sale and a photo booth. Tickets are $9 right now in the counselor’s hallway at lunch or $12 at the door! See you there!

Is law in your future?  If the law and civil rights appeals to you, and if you’d like a shot being part of a team that will argue before the Nevada Supreme Court this spring, then come to Room 108 after school this Thursday and learn about Law Day in Nevada 2014.

Do you like Starbucks?  Well, you are in luck because Damonte Ranch BSU will be raffling off two $25 Starbucks gift cards and a Starbucks gift bag.  Tickets are $1 each and will be sold during lunch.

Nutrition Services is conducting a web-based survey for all Middle School and High School students through March 7. The results will be used to better understand student needs and incorporate the results into our cafeteria offerings.  You will be asked to complete this survey in the Career Center during your up-coming Course Registration.  Bring your survey receipt to the cafeteria and you will receive a free Nutri-Grain Bar for participating in the survey.  One randomly chosen participant will receive a 7” Kindle Fire HDX.  The direct link to the survey is:  www.studentvp.com/washoe.

Yearbooks are selling fast, so don't wait until the last minute.  We've ordered the printing of only so many yearbooks, and once they're sold, there will be no more.  Buy your yearbook now and avoid the disappointment at the end of the year.  And buying now will save you $5 off the regular price.

The Literary Club is looking for writers!  We still need many poems, short stories, art work, photography, personal narratives and more.  Get a submission form from your English class, fill it out and drop it in the envelope, we’ll do the rest.  The end of March is the last month to submit any pieces of writing, so do it now.

Attention Seniors-The Rotary Club will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior.  This scholarship is only opened to Damonte and Manogue students. There is an additional opportunity to go on and compete for a $2,500.  Please stop the Career Center to pick up the application.
