PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE
TODAY IS AN “A” DAY

Attention All Seniors-
Grad Night this year will be Friday, June 8th.  Scream the night away and celebrate the end of your senior year with a trip to California's Great America!  We will be joining at least five other high schools from Reno that evening.  This is NOT the night of graduation but will be the Friday before.  The cost is $185.  AS OF RIGHT NOW, We need 35 more seniors to sign up by Friday, January 26th in order to go.  If we don't get enough signups, then those who paid their deposits will get their money back.  (Run through 1/26/18)

Today is the last day to sign up for Mr. Mustang! Sign-ups are in the counselor’s hall by the bookkeeper!  (Run January and 22nd)

Guys and gals!  A Night in New York is this Saturday, January 27th from 7-10pm.  Tickets will be sold all this week during lunch in the counselors hallway, $12 pre-sold and $15 at the door.  Your guest passes are due this Wednesday to the corral so get them in and see you at the dance!  1/22/17-1/25/17

Are you wondering when the next serving of Grandma Thiede’s Mac and Cheese will be available once again?  Wonder no more, the time has come for you to enjoy this comforting dish once again.  Friday, January 26th, the foods 2 class will be preparing this high demand dish.  Only 50 dishes will be available.  Thank you for your $3 donation to support our AWESOME foods program.  PS… you can reserve your dish ahead of time see Mrs. Thiede in the foods room for more information.  (Run through January 26, 2018)
Tired of the same old hoodie?  Try something new!  Come get an awesome, new Damonte Ranch Mustangs Sweatshirt for only $20.00 in the Student Store!  New designs are now available!
Who couldn’t use $50?  Who doesn’t love Amazon?
We challenge you to read a book.  Just one to be entered into a drawing for a $50 amazon gift card.  So easy AND fun!
First, go to the library, find a librarian, and choose a book from the choices they have set aside.  Don’t worry, all the books are amazing and highly rated.
Second, read it.  Don’t say you’re not a reader – reading will change your life!
Lastly, rank and write a brief review in Destiny.  Again, don’t worry!  Super easy!  The librarians will help you out and get your entry for the drawing.
Get going!  The more you read the more entries you have! The drawing will be March 14th so you have lots of good reading time!

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
This quarter’s PBIS focus is a No Tardies Challenge.  Students with No Tardies between January 22nd and March 9th will be rewarded with a Popcorn Party with the Principal.  Please see the fliers in the hallway for more details.

Dress Code
Please remember hats are not to be worn in the school building.  Dress code helps students prepare for the real world of work, and provides a means to teach students the importance of a respectable appearance that can positively impact a student’s self-respect and self-esteem.  The dress code policy can be found in the DRHS student planner as well as on the DRHS and WCSD websites.

Vaping
The Corral wants to remind students that smoking a vape device on campus or within sight of school is a violation and the progressive discipline plan applies.

DRHS Technology Policy
The Washoe County School District is proud to be a 21st Century district and promotes the responsible and thoughtful use of personal electronic devices to support student achievement.
Keep in mind that students may possess or use electronic devices on the DRHS campus provided that it is not a disruption to the education process or a disturbance of school.
Inside the classroom or instructional process, school buildings and during the school day, electronic devices shall be in the “off” position unless the devices are being used for instructional purposes.  Teachers and administrators reserve the right to confiscate a student’s electronic device if it is interfering with curriculum/instruction or student/staff confidentiality.
It is unlawful for a person to engage in any kind of surreptitious electronic surveillance on any public school property without the knowledge of the person being observed.
Electronic devices are prohibited in classrooms during assessments, semester exams or other testing situations.
Schools are not responsible for lost or stolen personal technology devices.

Have you ever wanted to submit your writing, art, or photos to a literary magazine?  Well, you have come to the WRITE place!
