Student Safety

Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety.  If your student hears about a possible threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it.  Please tell your student to refrain from posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and panic.  Remember, your student’s responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain anonymous. 
 
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on each school bus to help keep students safe.       
 
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill.  The best way for students to help during an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the emergency procedures they practice.  Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:
 
·         Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate the building and where to report to.
·         A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·         A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near campus).
·         A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency.  A trained Code Blue team responds to medical emergencies.
Students have already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code blue drill this school year.  Safety is always our primary concern!

Hey there Mustangs-This year’s yearbook has been selling fast. With only 200 left, you should get yours before they are sold out. Go to Walsworth.com, bring money to the bookkeeper, or scan the barcodes on the posters with your phone’s camera and it’ll take you to the site.

Hello, This is Mrs. Hernández with an important message for Juniors and Seniors.  Do you speak a world language other than English? Are you interested in taking the AAPPL Exam and obtaining the Seal of Biliteracy on your High School Diploma?  The State Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition given to graduating high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English.  DRHS will be offering the AAPPL Exam on October 16th and the deadline to register is October 14th.  Please come on Monday, September 30th during lunch time, in room 234, for more information or email Mrs. Hernández at c.hernandezchavez@washoeschools.net.

 

Pre-SEASON WRESTLING PRACTICE will start on September 30.  Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 3-4:30 pm, in the Wrestling Room.

 

Damonte Ranch will host an Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery ASVAB testing on Thursday October 3rd, 2019. Sign up in the Career Center if you are interested.

 

There will be a meeting on Friday October 4th at lunch in room 144 for students interested in becoming members of the National ART Honor Society. The nationally recognized organization provides opportunities to showcase your art skills, give back to the community, and practice leadership skills. Membership is open to students who have completed at least one year of art with a B or higher. Come to room 144 to find out more!
