Safety

Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety. If your student hears about a possible
threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it
to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it. Please tell your student to refrain from
posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and
panic. Remember, your student’s
responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain
anonymous.
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on
each school bus to help keep students safe.
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill. The best way for students to help during
an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the
emergency procedures they practice.
Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:

Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate
the building and where to report to.
·
A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the
occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than
normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·
A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or
impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near
campus).
·
A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency. A trained Code Blue team responds to
medical emergencies.
Students have
already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code
blue drill this school year. Safety
is always our primary concern!

TODAY is a “B” DAY
Josten’s will be here to deliver class rings on Tuesday, January 14, during lunch in the
counselor’s hallway to deliver class rings.
GET EXCITED!!! Friday, January 24th is
COURTCOMING (otherwise known as Basketball homecoming).
Here’s some important information…
1. The food drive is happening right
now. Bring in that canned food so you
can see your teacher CROWNED our COURTCOMING KING AND QUEEN at
our assembly.
2. There is a door
decorating contest to go along with our Space Jam theme. There will be
prizes for 1st-3rd place door winners. Doors
need to be finished by the 17th.
Paper is in room 226.
3. Our Courtcoming dance is
Friday, January 24th from 8-10:30.
Tickets go on sale the week of
January 21st
during lunch. The pre-sale price is $8 and it’s $10 at the
door. The first 200 people to buy dance
tickets get a custom cloth bracelet.
4. At the assembly we will
be collecting money for our Mad Minute.
The money will go towards the container for school supplies going to
Africa. Bring your change and help us
get school supplies for these students.

Sports are starting soon. Are you
interested in playing Softball, Baseball, Girls/Boys Track, Girls/Boys Swim or
Boys Golf? Athletic Clearance is starting now. You must register online at www.registermy
athlete.com
by February 10, 2020. This program only
works with Firefox or Google Chrome. If
you have questions, please see Mrs. Daniels in the Main Office.
It’s that time again! Time to get ready for softball season. We’ll have our first kick-off meeting Tuesday,
January 14th at lunch in room 117. Look forward to seeing you then! (Run 1/6 through 1/14)

here at Damonte? Do you want to be a student body officer
or run for student council for our 2020-2021 school year? Elections are
in January for Student Body Officers and February for Student council.
Student body officer candidate packets will be available starting January 10th
in room 226. See Mrs. Norton in room 226 for more details. (Run it until January 17th?)
Hey Mustangs- looking for community service hours? On January
31st Poulakidas Elementary School will be hosting a family dance.
Volunteers are needed to help serve food from
6 PM- 8 PM. Please stop by the Career Center for contact
information.
