Safety
~From the Corral
Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety. If your student hears about a possible
threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it
to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it. Please tell your student to refrain from
posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and
panic. Remember, your student’s
responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain
anonymous.
The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on
each school bus to help keep students safe.
Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill. The best way for students to help during
an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the
emergency procedures they practice.
Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:

Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate
the building and where to report to.
·
A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the
occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than
normal threat level is present NEAR campus.
·
A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or
impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near
campus).
·
A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency. A trained Code Blue team responds to
medical emergencies.
Students have
already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code
blue drill this school year. Safety
is always our primary concern!

Career Center for information regarding a seminar on January 30 that you can
attend.
Over the
holiday MLK weekend, the senior members
of the team were in California where David Barrientos made first level finals
in both speech & debate, and was a top 20 speaker out of 130 competitors.
Just this past weekend, the team was at
Galena, where Mathew Petersen made finals his very first time in Impromptu,
Owen Sellers and Marina Vallejo took 3rd in Novice Public Forum Debate with
Owen 4th top speaker and Marina 2nd, and David Barrientos cleaned up taking
First in Impromptu, First in Lincoln Douglas Debate, and First place top LD
speaker.
Hey Mustangs- looking for community service hours? On January 31st Poulakidas
Elementary School will be hosting a family dance. Volunteers are needed to help serve food from
6 PM- 8 PM. Please stop by the Career Center for contact
information.

Spring Sports are starting soon. Are you interested in playing Softball,
Baseball, Girls/Boys Track, Girls/Boys Swim or Boys Golf? Athletic
Clearance is starting now. You must

Attention
Seniors who plan on attending TMCC in the Fall,
Damonte will be hosting the first of three Accuplacer Testing’s in the Career
Center. The first is Thursday, February 13th at 1:30. Please stop by
the Career Center to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 24 students at one
testing. You will have needed to apply and been accepted to TMCC.

DRHS Juniors. Looking to boost your ACT score? Can’t attend the ACT bootcamp? Doorway to College will be conducting a ACT
Test Prep Seminar on February 19th & 20th Wednesday
and Thursday in the Career Center 3:00-5:30 PM.

Attention Damonte Ranch Mustangs...are you looking for community service hours? On Friday, February 21st from 5pm-9pm Hidden
Valley Elementary school is hosting a fundraiser. This event is set up to allow parents and
guardians of students at HVES the “night off” or a date night or whatever they
choose and we will babysitting the students in the multi-purpose room at the
school. They are looking for students to
help watch and play with the kids. If
