Student Safety ~From the Corral   Damonte Ranch High School is committed to school safety.  If your student hears about a possible threat or impending school incident, please have them immediately report it to school administration to ensure school staff is aware of it.  Please tell your student to refrain from posting the information on social media, as this creates rumors and panic.  Remember, your student’s responsible actions can help keep students safe and they can remain anonymous.    The WCSD provides video surveillance on school campus’ as well as on each school bus to help keep students safe.          Schools are required to practice a monthly emergency drill.  The best way for students to help during an emergency is to be where they are expected to be and follow the emergency procedures they practice.  Monthly, DRHS practices one of the following drills:   ·         Fire Evacuation Drills teach students how to appropriately evacuate the building and where to report to. ·         A Code Yellow, securing perimeter doors, is utilized to prevent the occurrence of a major incident when conditions indicate a higher than normal threat level is present NEAR campus. ·         A Code Red lockdown is utilized when an actual crisis situation or impending threat has occurred on school campus (or across the street/near campus). ·         A Code Blue is utilized for a medical emergency.  A trained Code Blue team responds to medical emergencies. Students have already practiced a fire drill, earthquake drill, code red drill and a code blue drill this school year.  Safety is always our primary concern!

Attention DRHS Juniors. Looking to boost your ACT score?  Can’t attend the ACT bootcamp?  Doorway to College will be conducting a ACT Test Prep Seminar on February 19^th & 20^th Wednesday and Thursday in the Career Center 3:00-5:30 PM.  Five hours of test prep for $95.00.  Post cards will be coming home soon or you can register @www.doorwaytocollege.com.

 

Attention Damonte Ranch Mustangs...are you looking for community service hours?  On Friday, February 21st from 5pm-9pm Hidden Valley Elementary school is hosting a fundraiser.  This event is set up to allow parents and guardians of students at HVES the “night off” or a date night or whatever they choose and we will babysitting the students in the multi-purpose room at the school.  They are looking for students to help watch and play with the kids.  If you 're interested stop by the Career Center for the contact information.

 

Swim team will be having a meeting during lunch in room 107 on Thursday January 23^rd.  (Run from 1/17-1/23)

 

It’s almost time for Grandma Thiede’s Mac ‘n Cheese with a Garden side salad, for a $3 donation.  Stop by room 117 at the beginning of lunch on Friday, January 24.  See Mrs. Thiede to pre-order your dish.

Basketball Homecoming (also known as Basketball Homecoming (also known as Courtcoming) is THIS WEEK!!! 

 1.  Bring food for our food drive to your IC.  Food is due by Thursday.

 2.  Door decorating contest has been extended until Thursday morning. 

 3.  The dance is Friday from 8-10:30.  Tickets are on sale during lunch.  They will be $8 OR $10 at the door.  The first 200 people to buy dance tickets get a custom bracelet. 

 4.  There will be a KNOCK OUT Basketball tournament every day this week in the gym.  Bring $1 to play and you’ll have a chance to win a gift card.  If you are interested go to the Gym at lunch.

 5.  Spirit week is going on now.   Today is “Aliens vs. Athletes”- wear your favorite team jersey sports geer.  Thursday is Throwback day so wear something from the past.  Friday is DRHS spirit day.

6.  Student Body candidate packets are due Friday at 3pm.  Packets are available in the office or room 226 if you are interested in being a student body officer.

Attention Students:

Spring Sports are starting soon.  Are you interested in playing Softball, Baseball, Girls/Boys Track, Girls/Boys Swim or Boys Golf?  Athletic Clearance is starting now.  You must register online at www.registermy athlete.com by February 10, 2020.  This program only works with Firefox or Google Chrome.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Daniels in the Main Office.
