Do you want to experience the thrill of arguing in the
Nevada Supreme Court? Now is your chance. Join the Nevada Law Day's
Damonte Ranch Team. We will meet this Thursday (on Thursday say
"today") immediately after school in room 108. This is great
experience for anybody contemplating a career in law or politics.
Burrr it’s cold out there Damonte! Warm up at the Fire and Ice prom Saturday
March 15th. Tickets will be on sale all
week, during lunch, and IC. Presold
couples tickets are $80 and will only be on sale until Wednesday, the 12th.
Presold single tickets are $45! One
additional bonus for buying your tickets in advance is that you can enter the
pre-function areas half an hour early! That’s
right! Beat the lines for prom pictures and coat check so that you’re
ready when the ballroom doors open at 8. Tickets will still be available
at the door for $50. And if you’re bring a guest or an underclassmen…guest
pass applications are due by March 12th to the Corral. See you
at the Joe Damonte. It’s a going to be a
hot one!
Amigos! 5 de Mayo is coming!!! Hispanic Club is preparing exciting
activities for the whole school. As part
of the traditional lunch celebration, the club is going to host the World
Cultures’ Event. If you would like to
participate, contact Mrs.Long (Room 217) or Mrs. Gutierrez (Room 202). You can get a table and represent the country
of your choice. Artifacts, pictures,
food (you can offer samples or sell food) are just a few of the possibilities. All the DRHS clubs are welcome to join
us! Let’s have fun at 5 de Mayo! (run through 3/14)
In
recent weeks, several computers in the library have been vandalized,
costing our school several hundred dollars in replacement and repair
costs. A reward is being offered for
credible information about this damage. Please
call Secret Witness at (775)329-6666 or www.secretwitness.com. Additional information may be reported to Ms.
Kelley in the Corral.
Jostens
will be here Wednesday, March 19th, during lunch
delivering graduation announcements and other graduation items. If you
have not ordered your cap and gown, announcements or class ring, stop by and
see Jostens.
Attention
dance choreographers: The PAC Dance
Spring Show is coming. Students wanting
to choreograph for the Spring Show are invited to come audition on Wednesday,
March 12 from 2:30-4 pm, in the dance studio.
If you have any questions, please talk to Ms. Bauman, anytime.
Are
you planning to bring a guest from another school to Prom?
Applications
for Guest Passes are available in the Corral and need to be turned in no later
than the end of the day on Wednesday, March 12th. Juniors and Seniors that would like to attend
Prom with a Sophomore or Freshman will also need to fill out an application.
Attention
Students!
Not only is Hoof Notes, our literary magazine, still seeking submissions, there
are now cash prizes for the winners in each category! For the first place
winners, gift cards for $100.00, second place winners gift cards for $50.00,
and third place winners gift cards for $25.00. We need your writing and
art work. So far, we only have one piece of art work submitted and we
know there are many more artists out there. Submit now! The
deadline for the final submission is the end of March! Drop off your work
in the envelopes in English classrooms, in the library or in Ms. Servilican’s
room, #214.
Nutrition
Services is conducting a web-based survey for all Middle School and High School students
and it has been extended until March 14. The results will be used to better
understand student needs and incorporate the results into our cafeteria
offerings. You will be asked to complete
this survey in the Career Center during your up-coming Course
Registration. Bring your survey receipt
to the cafeteria and you will receive a free Nutri-Grain Bar for participating
in the survey. One randomly chosen
participant will receive a 7” Kindle Fire HDX.

Yearbooks are selling fast, so don't wait until the last minute.
We've ordered the printing of only so many yearbooks, and once they're sold,
there will be no more. Buy your yearbook now and avoid the disappointment
at the end of the year. And buying now will save you $5 off the regular
price.
Attention Seniors: Finally received the WIN scholarship
application…This is a very quick turnaround
time!! Must have 2.5 academic GPA and have demonstrated community service and
leadership skills. Deadline is March 21st
to me in the Career Center.

U.S. Scholarship Program is now available for students to apply.
Deadline is May 29, 2014. Apply

Attention Seniors-The Rotary Club will award a $500 scholarship to a
graduating senior. This scholarship is only opened to Damonte and Manogue
students. There is an additional
opportunity to go on and compete for a $2,500. Please stop the Career
Center to pick up the application. It is
due by March 25th.
ATTENTION SENIORS: Did you attend Pleasant Valley Elementary
school? The Career Center now has the application for the Pleasant Valley
Elementary school scholarship. Deadline is March 24th. Also, if your parent(s) are teachers for the
WCSD and belong to Washoe Educators Association (WEA) there are two
scholarships opportunities for you. There is also the Michael Landsberry
Scholarship for any student who attended Sparks Middle School. Another scholarship is available for seniors
of Hispanic descent who are interested in pursuing a career in education. Please stop in the Career Center and see Mrs.
Aikin.
Attention any seniors who attended Marvin Moss Elementary School…the Moss PTA is offering
four $500 scholarships. Please stop by the Career Center for the
application. Deadline is March 28th.
A Driver Education class will be
offered at Damonte Ranch High School during
spring break. This 30-hour class fulfills the classroom requirement for a
driver's license in Nevada if you are under 18. The cost is $94. Classes will
be Monday-Thursday, April 7-10, from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Please call 829-9010 to register.
