Students!
Not only is Hoof Notes, our literary magazine, still seeking submissions, there
are now cash prizes for the winners in each category! For the first place
winners, gift cards for $100.00, second place winners gift cards for $50.00,
and third place winners gift cards for $25.00. We need your writing and
art work. So far, we only have one piece of art work submitted and we
know there are many more artists out there. Submit now! The
deadline for the final submission is the end of March! Drop off your work
in the envelopes in English classrooms, in the library or in Ms. Servilican’s
room, #214.
The
International Club will be learning about Russia from our very own Ms.
Tatiana Long! Friday, the 7th, at lunchtime. See you in
room 232!
Congratulations to Isabella Dominguez for placing 2nd in Novice
Expos at the Elko Speech and Debate Tournament this past weekend…and thank to
all the DRHS competitors who went as well; Sara Sime, Regina Olivares, Farrah
Saad, Ashlyn Tanghal and Brett Hertzler excellent job! We are very proud of
each of you.
Attention
seniors who have applied and been accepted to TMCC. The Career Center will
have two accuplacer placement tests for TMCC. The first is Wednesday
March 5th @1:40 pm. The second is Friday, March 14th
@2:45. Please make sure to stop by the Career Center to sign up and save
your seat.
The
JV and Varsity dance teams will travel to Knotts Berry Farm in Southern
California for a dance competition. Please
wish these awesome young ladies good luck!! Love coach Bauman and coach Arthur.
The
Student Store is open daily during lunch and is now open after school every day
except for Wednesdays.
Nutrition
Services is conducting a web-based survey for all Middle School and High School students
through March 7. The results will be used to better understand student needs
and incorporate the results into our cafeteria offerings. You will be asked to complete this survey in
the Career Center during your up-coming Course Registration. Bring your survey receipt to the cafeteria
and you will receive a free Nutri-Grain Bar for participating in the
survey. One randomly chosen participant will
receive a 7” Kindle Fire HDX. The direct

Yearbooks are selling fast, so don't wait until the last minute.
We've ordered the printing of only so many yearbooks, and once they're sold,
there will be no more. Buy your yearbook now and avoid the disappointment
at the end of the year. And buying now will save you $5 off the regular
price.
Attention Seniors-The Rotary Club will award a $500 scholarship to a
graduating senior. This scholarship is only opened to Damonte and Manogue
students. There is an additional opportunity to go on and compete for a
$2,500. Please stop the Career Center to pick up the application.
ATTENTION SENIORS: Did you attend Pleasant Valley Elementary
school? The Career Center now has the application for the Pleasant Valley
Elementary school scholarship. Deadline is March 24th. Also, if your parent(s) are teachers for the
WCSD and belong to Washoe Educators Association (WEA) there are two
scholarships opportunities for you. There is also the Michael Landsberry
Scholarship for any student who attended Sparks Middle School. Another scholarship is available for seniors
of Hispanic descent who are interested in pursuing a career in education. Please stop in the Career Center and see Mrs.
Aikin.
To apply for a Tony Armstrong
Memorial Scholarship you must have a
GPA of 2.5. Please stop by the Career Center to pick up your
application. Deadline is March 7th.
Attention any seniors who attended Marvin Moss Elementary School…the Moss PTA is offering
four $500 scholarships. Please stop by the Career Center for the
application. Deadline is March 28th.
A Driver Education class will be
offered at Damonte Ranch High School during
spring break. This 30-hour class fulfills the classroom requirement for a
driver's license in Nevada if you are under 18. The cost is $94. Classes will
be Monday-Thursday, April 7-10, from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Please call 829-9010 to register.
