It’s concert time!  Come support our Damonte Ranch choirs in their first concert of the school year.  Tuesday, September 29, 7 pm, in the theatre.  It’s free!  Come hear what your friends in the choir program are up to!

 

Hola amigos: This Friday Hispanic Club will sell Tacos and Orchata during lunch time. You can find us in front of the Career Center. Thank you for your support!

 

 

Would you like to sing the National Anthem at a sporting event?  Come see Ms. Tibben for auditions to sing at Football or Basketball games.  Room 143.  Sign up outside the door for lunch slots.

 

Students there will be a bake sale in the main hallway at lunch benefitting the Black Student Union on Thursday September 24.  Come and have a delicious dessert and benefit BSU Thursday at lunch.

Hey Mustangs, for any freshman or new students interested in playing softball this upcoming season please see Mrs. Daniels in the main office to sign the new athlete sheet.

Seniors!  Don’t be left out of the Senior Portrait Section of the Yearbook.  The LAST DAY has changed to take your senior portraits, it is now October 30th.  This is a new deadline, so don’t miss out!  Again, if you miss this date you will not be in the Yearbook… and that’s just sad.  Schedule your appointment today with Lifetouch located on E. The Washoe County School Police Department and Reno Police Departments have joined together this year for their Police Explorer programs. This Explorer program is looking for qualified students who have an interest in the career of law enforcement. If interested, please see the main office for a Police Explorer brochure.

 

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN POLITICS? THERE IS A NEW INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO WORK FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. APPLY NOW TO WORK ON THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL AND SENATORIAL ELECTIONS IN NEVADA. IT STARTS OUT AS A VOLUNTEER POSITION, BUT THERE WILL BE PAID POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN 2016. THEY WILL BE LOOKING AT THEIR INTERNS TO FILL THOSE SLOTS. Want to improve your ACT/SAT scores?  TMCC will be holding an Ace the ACT/SAT Math class taking place Saturday Sept 26 from 9-3pm.  Registration flyers are available in the office.

                                                                                      

TMCC’s Community Education Drivers’ Education class, which costs $99, fulfills the 30 hour classroom requirement, will be held at DRHS October 26-29.  Parents are responsible for the 50 hours behind-the-wheel requirement. These classes fill quickly. If the class you want is full, look for another that has space available.

Damonte Ranch High School is looking to start a new chess club!  All who are interested should join us every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch is Mrs. Crowley's room: room 114.   Come make some new friends and have fun while improving your skills.  (run through Sept 30th)

 

Sophomores and Juniors!  The PSAT test is Wednesday Oct 14th.  The preliminary SAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 for juniors.  See the bookkeeper today!  (Run it for three days a week until Oct 2nd.)

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors DRHS is PSAT/SAT Test prep Seminar Wednesday & Thursday September 23rd & 24th @ 3:00 – 5:30 pm (both days) stop by the Career Center to register or go to www.doorwaytocollege.com/damonte.  Walk-ins are welcome.

 

Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.
