PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

 

Today is a “B” DAY

 

 

The first dance is coming. It's almost here! 
So very exciting - the first of the year! 
On September 19th...we want you to come. 
From 8 to 11; let's have some fun! 
It's 12 dollars presale, 15 at the door.
By the end of the night, you'll be begging for more. 
You can go by yourself, or go as a pair!
Either way...we'll see you there!

 

If you are bringing a guest from another school to the Homecoming Dance, please pick up a Guest Pass in the Corral.  Guest Passes are due on Wednesday, September 16.

 

 

Hey Mustangs, for any freshman or new students interested in playing softball this upcoming season please see Mrs. Daniels in the main office to sign the new athlete sheet. Also, DRHS will be having their first optional practice THIS WEDNESDAY 4-5:30 on the softball field. For all interested in playing, bring your game face, water and let’s have some fun. See you there!!

 

Hey Damonte are your looking for an opportunity to volunteer? The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure needs lots of helpers. The race is October 4 at the GSR. Information how how to get involved and volunteer go to www.komennorthnv.org or call 775-355-7311.

 

Speech and Debate is looking for “Speakers”- Speech and Debate meet every Thursday after school from 2:40 – 4:00 pm in the Career Center. DRHS will be hosting the first tournament of the debating season this September 18th & 19th it is a wonderful opportunity to see what all the buzz is about. Please see Mrs. Aikin or Mrs. Amini if you have any questions.

 

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE FIELD OF LAW? THERE IS A POSITION OPEN FOR A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT TO BE A JUDICIAL INTERN AT THE WASHOE COUNTY COURTHOUSE. YOU WOULD WORK 2-3 HOURS, 2 OR 3 DAYS PER WEEK. THIS IS AN UNPAID POSITION BUT YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT FAMILY LAW AND WORK AROUND LAWYERS AND JUDGES. YOU WOULD WORK 2-3 HOURS, 2 OR 3 DAYS PER WEEK. THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SAMPLE THIS TYPE OF CAREER! FOR CONTACT INFORMATION, PLEASE SEE MS. AIKIN IN THE CAREER CENTER.  Run through 9/18

 

Damonte Ranch High School is looking to start a new chess club!  All who are interested should join us every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch is Mrs. Crowley's room: room 114.   Come make some new friends and have fun while improving your skills.

 

Sophomores and Juniors!  The PSAT test is Wednesday Oct 14th.  The preliminary SAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 for juniors.  See the bookkeeper today!  (Run it for three days a week until Oct 2nd.)

 

Seniors! Don’t be left out of the Senior Portrait Section of the Yearbook.  The LAST DAY to take your senior portraits is Nov 19th.  Again, if you miss this date you will not be in the Yearbook… and that’s just sad. Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.
