Attention all you literature lovers out there!  Damonte has not had a literary magazine for several years, but this year, it’s being re-invented.  If you would like to help in its construction and showcase the poetry, short stories and other types of writing as well as artwork of Damonte students, please join this literary group on Monday, September 9, at lunch in Ms. Servilican’s room, #214.  Our goal is to publish a literary magazine by the end of the year and to do this we need your help!  If you love organizing and constructing, this group is for you.  All literary fanatics invited!  Again, Monday the 9th, at lunch in Ms. Servilican’s room, #214!  For more information, drop by and speak with Ms. Servilican in room 214. 

Attention all students who drive to school. If you park on campus you must have a new 2013-14 parking sticker. Any vehicles parked on campus that do not have a current parking permit displayed in the front window of their vehicle will be cited.

Hey Damonte…Can you create the most amazing and spectacular backpack designs?  Backpack of the Century Design Challenge is offering a contest to see if you have the best ideas.  Here’s your opportunity to be creative and win some money.  Stop by the Career Center for the entry form/rules for the contest.  The deadline to enter is September 29th.

The Fleet Reserve Association is sponsoring the “National Americanism Essay Contest”.  This year’s theme is “The Bill of Rights and Me”.  Grand prize is $5,000.00!  Stop by the Career Center for contest rules.  All essays are due by December 1st.

Do you need a computer for some of your assignments and don’t have one?  Or are the computers at your home tied up with other family members sometimes?  This year we have laptop computers available to students for check-out in our library.  But before you can check one out you must first go through a short training class.  Please sign up in the counseling office if you think you will need a computer to use sometimes. You only need to attend this training once and you will be able to check a laptop when you need one this year.  The first training is Tuesday during IC / FS so sign up today.  Stop by the counseling office.
Don't forget that Drama Club meets on Tuesdays at lunch in the theatre!  Bring your lunch and join us on stage for some fun--and bring a friend!

STUDENTS, DON’T FORGET TO REMIND YOUR PARENTS that Open House is this Wednesday, August 28, at 6:30 pm.  Please remember to provide your parents with a copy of your schedule, so that they will be able to find your classes.

Thank you to all who attended the Audition Seminars over the last two weeks, preparing for the Dark of the Moon auditions today after school!  Didn't attend--no problem!  Just show up!  Information is on the bulletin board outside the theatre door.  This has potentially a very large cast, so come one, come all!  Please make sure you've picked up an Audition Form from the bulletin board and arrive with it completed!

Auditions for Dark of the Moon are Monday!  Please check the bulletin board outside the theatre for details on the times:  Singers & Musicians please arrive at 2:40, Actors reading for roles please arrive at 3:00, and Dancers please audition at 4:15.  Auditions are open to the entire school!  Come experience a Halloween you'll never forget!

So, do you like “Pitch Perfect” and “The Sing Off”?  Then you will want to join Damonte’s a capella vocal group!  Auditions will be held Thursday and Monday at lunch and during IC for Damonte Ranch’s first Contemporary A capella group.  The group will be made up of ANY singer at Damonte (you don’t need to be in a choir to audition).  The audition will consist of sight reading and rhythm reading and vocalizing.  Ms. Tibben is looking for 6 singers, any voice part, to make up this group.  See her in room 143 for an appointment or IC pass.
