Students!
Did you know Hoof Notes is our literary magazine? We are now taking
submissions for this year’s magazine. Pick up entry forms in your English
classes, fill it out, attach your piece of writing to a filled out form and
submit to Ms. Servilican’s room 214 or to your English teacher. We are
also looking for art work, drama, photography, and music, as well as poetry,
short stories, nonfiction pieces, and more. Deadline for submissions is
the end of April. Submit your work today! (Run
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.)
Damonte
Ranch will begin expanding today. That is right, we are getting 19 new classrooms
and 4 new science labs. There will not be any parking available in the
back of the building nor will there be parking available in the front right
hand lot if you are facing west. Please be very aware of heavy equipment
and warning signs. Please remember that Student Parking is allowed on the
north & south sides of the school only.
Our
speech and debate team travelled to Las Vegas this weekend to compete
in a statewide tournament. Congratulations to Kobe Kitson for being one of only
4 students from Northern Nevada to make it to finals for debate.
Congratulations also to David Barrientos and Jade Whitbeck, the only Northern
Nevada debaters to make it to finals for partner debate. If you're interested

Attention
Mustangs!
The annual NHS volleyball tournament will be held the week after spring break,
April 12 through the 14. If you want to make a team, sign ups will be starting
this Monday March 13th through Friday March 17th in the counseling
hallway. Each team will cost $20. The
winning team gets a $40 yogurt beach gift card. Hope to see you there!

Breakfast will
be
a bacon quesadilla or chocolate glazed whole-grain
donut.
Lunch will be chicken flatbread pizzas
and salad. The
Noshery will accept free/reduced, cash or
MySchoolBucks.
Jostens
will be here, WeDNESday, March 15th, during lunch, set-up by the office, delivering
graduation announcements. Jostens will
also accept graduation and class ring orders.

SENIORS!!
The
following is information on how to submit your baby picture for the senior
video… The baby pictures is placed next to the student’s graduation picture in
the video. All pictures are due electronically only by March 17th.
TMCC Community Education Driver’s Education class, which
costs $99, fulfills the 30-hour classroom requirement. Parents are responsible
for the 50 hours behind-the-wheel component. These classes fill quickly. If
the class you want is full, look for another that has space available. Register

What is RYLA?
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a
training program for leaders and potential leaders between their junior and
senior high school years. As a RYLA participant, you will attend an
all-expense-paid, 6 day camp at the Grizzly Creek Ranch in Portola, California.
Applications for the RYLA Leadership Camp 2017 can be found in the Career
Center or online at www.Camp-RYLA.org
Application deadline is April 5th.
KIDS
University at UNR is looking for high school volunteers to help us with camp
this summer! KIDS University is a 7-week summer camp for kids in 2nd-8th
grade that is held on the UNR campus each summer. We offer a variety of
educational classes in the mornings followed by recreational activities in the
afternoons. Camp dates will be June 12-July 28, 2017. Camp hours
are 7:30am-5:30pm. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 3 weeks
during the summer. Hours can be flexible.
Applications are due by 5pm on Monday,
April 24.
Junior counselor interviews will be
scheduled on Saturday, April 29.
Attention Seniors who have applied and
been accepted to TMCC. Damonte will host a 2nd
opportunity to take the Accuplacer Placement Test on Wednesday April 26th
starting at 2 PM. You will need to be in your seat by 1:40 PM as we will be
begin promptly at 2 PM. Please stop by the Career Center to sign up and reserve
