Literary Club is seeking artists and graphic designers to design our 2nd annual Hoof Notes cover.  The winner will receive a $100.00 gift card and have their cover printed on this year’s literary magazine.  Please make sure you have the words Hoof Notes on the cover and it must represent Damonte Ranch in some way.  See Ms. Servilican in room 214 for more details or pick up a submission sheet in your English classroom and submit your design today!   Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 2 and

THE GAMES HAVE BEGUN. Today is President Snow Monday. Dress up as Panem’s leader or in all white we begin the annual battle of the sexes week.
Tomorrow is Team Peeta Tuesday. Steal an apron from your mom to be a baker like Peeta Melark. Or, wear a hat for a $1wristband from the corral
Next we enter the Capitol, now we are the royalty, so dress the part and reign The Capitol with dresses and high class jewelry. If you’re not feeling so sophisticated just wear black.
Friday is the assembly, remember to wear your pink and blue head to toe and bring your game face to the competition of the year. And may the odds be ever in your favor Damonte.  (Feb. 2)

MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR! For the 1st annual Damonte Ranch Hunger Games---A BATTLE OF THE SEXES.
In honor of the games we will be having a spirit week, February 2nd through 6th.
Start off the week by honoring Panem’s leader by dressing up as the great President Snow, or wear all white.
Are you on Team Peeta? Tuesday release your inner baker and steal an apron from your mom to become the next Peeta Melark. If you are not feeling like a master chef, wear a hat for $1. Remember to buy a wristband from the corral.
Wednesday dress up as the high class citizens of the capitol wear your finest jewelry and your most elegant dress or suit. If you are not feeling so sophisticated for this black tie event, just wear black.
Enter the arena on Tribute Thursday, dress up as a tribute or wear camo as you compete in the Hunger Games.
Let the games begin on Friday with the assembly as girls deck out in pink and boys wear blue head to toe. Bring your game face to compete in the Battle of the Sexes Assembly   (Jan 29-30)

Open for all Damonte Ranch Students- GlobalNevada and the Reno Sunrise Rotary Club is sponsoring a Global Gala Essay Contest. Award is $500.00 Deadline is February 27th. Stop by the Career Center for additional information.

The Literary Club is looking for submissions for our 2nd annual literary magazine Hoof Notes.  There are submission forms in all the English classrooms and in the library if you’re interested in submitting a short story, poem, drama, or piece of art work.  This year, like last year, there will also be prizes given for winning submissions.  Last year the top prizes awarded were $100.00 gift cards.  We are also looking for a new cover this year.  If you would like to submit a cover it should have the title of the magazine, Hoof Notes, and in some way represent our school.  See Ms. Servilican in Room 214 for further information.  Cover submissions should be in outstanding!  The winner will be awarded a $100.00 gift card and all submissions are due by February 13, 2015.  Submit your cover now.
