Cheerleading tryouts for the 2014-2015 season are May 20-22.  Tryout packets are available in the office.  The deadline is May 19.  Pick one up today and get the information you need to be ready. (Please run twice a week through May 19.)

Attentions seniors:  with the Senior Scholarship Award Night fast approaching on Wednesday May 21st, I want to make sure not to leave anyone out.  Please stop by the Career Center before Friday May 9th and tell me of your scholarship awards.  Letters of invitations to the scholarship award night will be going out to seniors on May 9th.
  
Amigos!  5 de Mayo is coming!!! As part of the traditional lunch, the club is going to sell a plate (attention!!!) of a chicken enchilada, Spanish rice, and refried beans for 5 dollars - cooked by our famous CHEF Mrs. Thiede. There will be MORE homemade Hispanic Food.  Also, the Asian Club is going to offer a plate (attention!!!) of white/fried rice, egg roll and pon sit.  The price is also 5 dollars. To conclude, AMIGOS!!!! Bring your DINERO, so you could try this delicious fabulous food and then have fun DANCING in the courtyard.

National Honor Society New Inductees:  If you plan to attend to the Induction Ceremony on May 2nd, please stop by Ms. Hemler’s room 119 or Ms. DPR’s room 230 for important information before this Friday.

It’s the end of an era, Attention Seniors, before you leave Damonte you have one last chance to leave your legacy.  At the senior assembly you will have the opportunity to sing, dance or give a speech. Whatever your talent is, we want to see it.  Auditions to perform at the assembly will take place Monday May 26th to Wednesday May 28th.  Sign up in room 101 for an audition slot.

Do you love UNR football?  FCA will be hosting two starting UNR football players at a special meeting this Wednesday in room 111.  Even if you have never come to an FCA meeting, everyone is welcome to come meet these big-name athletes who may or may not throw the ball.  Don’t miss your chance this Wednesday in Mrs. Woo’s room (111) to come meet a new friend and a famous person.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas will host the 2014 Summer Transportation Institute (STI) Program for high school participants from July 14, 2014 – July 28, 2014. This will be a residential program where the participants will reside on the UNLV campus and participate in transportation related activities. The purpose of the STI Program is to create awareness and stimulate interest in high school students to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry.
*      Be in the 10th or 11th grade for the 2014-2015 school year.
*      Have completed or be qualified to enroll in Algebra for the 2014-2015 school year.
*      Have cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (minimum).
*      Have an interest in engineering, science, transportation, or technology-related careers.
Application in the Career Center Deadline to Apply is May 16th.

Class of 2016, Emma Curtis is your president, Ali Thorton is your Vice President, Pam Eustaquio is your secretary and Jessica Harris is your treasurer. For the Class of 2017 we have Savanna Cilonis as president, Ariana McConnell as Vice President, Astha Mehta as secretary and Emily Oberg as treasurer. Congratulations to these officers, we know they are looking forward to serving you for the 2014-2015 school year!

PLEDGE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

Today is a “B” DaY

Hey Mustangs! Our last blood drive of the year is coming up this Friday.  Sign-ups begin today at lunch in the counselor's hallway and will end Thursday at 2:30.  Did you know that there are over 1,000 students at our school who are old enough to donate?  If each eligible student donated, we could save about 3,000 lives!  Each donation counts!  So sign up today and save a life

All 2014 Graduating Seniors are invited to attend this year's Grad Night Trip to Six Flags - Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA (Southern California).   The trip includes chartered bus transportation, admission into the park, breakfast, lunch and dinner, dancing to a DJ and much, much, more!  The cost of the trip is $150, a $250 value.

Amigos!  5 de Mayo is coming!!!  Hispanic Club is preparing exciting activities for the whole school. As part of the traditional lunch celebration, the club is going to host the World Cultures’ Event.  If you would like to participate, contact Mrs. Long (Room 217) or Mrs. Gutierrez (Room 202).  You can get a table and represent the country of your choice.  Artifacts, pictures and food (you can offer samples or sell food) are just a few of the possibilities.  All the DRHS clubs are welcome to join us!  Let’s have fun at 5 de Mayo!

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas will host the 2014 Summer Transportation Institute (STI) Program for high school participants from July 14, 2014 – July 28, 2014. This will be a residential program where the participants will reside on the UNLV campus and participate in transportation related activities. The purpose of the STI Program is to create awareness and stimulate interest in high school students to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry.
*      Be in the 10th or 11th grade for the 2014-2015 school year.
*      Have completed or be qualified to enroll in Algebra for the 2014-2015 school year.
