Looking for a lunch club to meet new friends and do fun activities?  BSU, the Black Student Union will be meeting this Thursday, October 1st in room 211 at lunch to discuss plans for the future.  Also, by the way, BSU is not limited to black students, everyone is welcome to join and help educate others about diversity and spread understanding.  Come to our meeting Thursday in room 211 and find out about BSU.

this week the games at Carson will be pink out and next week our home games are pink out.  Cheerleaders will be selling pink tee shirts for $10 at lunch all next week.

Attention DRHS Mustangs- On Wednesday November 4th there will be an ASVAB-The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.  Testing starts at 12:00 until 4:00 pm. There will be a signup sheet in the Career Center to reserve your spot.

TMCC’s Community Education Drivers’ Education class, which costs $99, fulfills the 30 hour classroom requirement, will be held at DRHS October 26-29.  Parents are responsible for the 50 hours behind-the-wheel requirement. These classes fill quickly. If the class you want is full, look for another that has space available.

Sophomores and Juniors!  The PSAT test is Wednesday Oct 14th.  The preliminary SAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 for juniors.  See the bookkeeper today!  (Run it for three days a week until Oct 2nd.)

 

Seniors I now have the hard copy application for the 2016 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship.

There are two $5,000.00 scholarships available along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. If you are interested stop by the Career Center or checkout the website www.ussenateyouth.org.

The Washoe County School Police Department and Reno Police Departments have joined together this year for their Police Explorer programs. This Explorer program is looking for qualified students who have an interest in the career of law enforcement.
